I have made comparison test of Panorama II Beta FW v1.11.13 vs official v1.08.05

FW v1.11.13 is Beta version where developer added GPS time zone option, extra folders and removed violet background at night. Due to this a video recording at night made darker where there are no or little street lights.

Also I have tested power-on and gps lock speed:
- v1.08.05 took about 5 sec. from power-on to start recording. GPS lock is instant upon it started recording.
- v1.11.13 took about 8 sec. from power-on to start recording. GPS lock is 1 sec after it started recording.

If comparing to other high-end dash-cameras, both results are very good, especially instant GPS lock upon recording starts.

Again, just to remind - v1.11.13 is Beta version ( for test purpose only, it's not final version ) and developer working on it to improve night vision recording and taking back to 5 sec from power-on / recording start time.

Below is video test about start-up / rec / gps lock :

Also side by side test of both firmwares:

For those who maybe don't have time to watch 16min video clip and doing paus / play to compare different scenes, I have selected collection of scenes where can see difference, so you can quickly scroll through comparisons and see result.

In first post I will upload 10 scenes where there are not much differences.
Then followed by 30 scenes where you can see a difference.

P.S. About GPS data location and speed please remember it takes few sec. to update and lock, thats why you may see on photos very little difference in this data.

10 scenes where there is no or very little difference between 2 firmwares.

Thanks for the comparison, it is now very clear what the difference is. I like that the new firmware doesn't show as much noise but it loses so much contrast, probably because of higher contrast setting in the firmware.

Niko thanks for sharing this information. I like the sharp and clear image of the latest firmware but it's also a little too dark. With older version it appears lighter but at the same time it's like there is some dust sprinkled on the windshield. Question, did they leave 12mbps recording speed or was it slightly changed? Thanks, I really appreciate your contribution to this community.

You are welcome.

All Panorama II FW versions records 12Mbps if set to 1080p / 30Fps.
Some RAW video files of Beta FW v1.11.13 can be downloaded from THIS post.

Can someone who is good with image manipulation see if you're really losing all that much detail without the violet fog? Is there truly less data? What if you increased the contrast / brightness? Just thinking, maybe the violet is the same as black but just makes it easier for the naked eye to see.

Itried manipulating on Video Editing software replacing violet to white, - result is much better for eye with violet. In order to see on the black background some extra details which are also kinda black ( dark ), you need "opposite" colour ( white, green, blue, yellow ), - best tended to be a violet.

Thanks niko for this tremendous work!
Despite of the gps time zone bug i will stay with the 1.08.

U R welcome.
Same here, I use v1.08.05.
I posted Beta v1.11.13 FW just to show that developer working in the right direction where gps issue is solved, also added few features.
I think now most important is left to combine v1.08.05 "violet" night video rec + v1.11.13 options.
I will keep updated when new FW released.
