...for practical reasons all the beta development and testing is only happening on the .V2 firmware code, once changes are signed off we then apply the same changes to the earlier .002 firmware version code and those will only be available as release versions so anyone with the earlier firmware type models won't be able to participate in any pre release versions...

Disappointing for me personally (I kind of like beta testing) :( but I totally understand and agree with this approach. I'm assuming that there will be some fairly extensive testing when the changes are 'back fitted' to the first generation F/W?

I'll have to go now but will try it tonight. Not that many changes I see.

1.Adjust the bootup process.
1.Bugfix audio issue.
1.Bugfix system default time becomes 2030.
2.Bugfix GPS offset problem

Will flashing this reset any hot pixel calibration settings?

Umm, shouldn't this be V2 Update 2 beta 1..2..3 etc.

well it's V2 camera version, U1 was last release and these are the betas, once finished next release will be V2 Update 2 then will move onto next betas

Well that confusing. That's not how I understand version numbering to work.

it's how we've been doing it internally for a while now, most people never see that, just update 1, update 2 etc so I guess the naming of beta stuff is confusing when it's not what you're used to

I have never seen it work like that ever, with anything. This is a beta of Update 2 not Update 1.

until now things just had beta numbers but after 17 betas we started renumbering post update version

A bit odd that it's evolved that way but up to you I guess. The only way I have of knowing/suspecting that Update 1 beta 3 is later than Update 1 is by the date of this thread. :)

But then a person wouldn't know what version it's a beta of. Take Firefox for instance. Current release version is 43. They're now up to 44.0b6 and will release version 44.0 to mainstream when betas are complete.

understand what you're saying, base code on this version is all as per the update 1 release and are betas beyond that point which is why it ended up named the way it did, added confusion from V1 and V2 cameras I guess

I'm not confused at all about the Version numbers of the cameras, just betas coming after a release. Anyway, I'm sounding pedantic when really it's not that important so I'll leave it at that and get about the actual updating. ;)

I did the update but it still gives me 20151109.V2 in the version. Is that correct?

I expected SG20151231.V2

I did this,
509 20160106T10:21:26 unzip SG9665GC_V2_Update_1_beta_3.zip
510 20160106T10:21:45 cat Release\ notes.txt
511 20160106T10:23:26 cat SG9665GC\ Firmware\ update\ process.txt
512 20160106T10:25:03 cp -v SGGCV2.bin /media/G9665/
513 20160106T10:25:08 ll /media/G9665/
514 20160106T10:25:31 rm -rf /media/G9665/CARDV
515 20160106T10:25:38 ll /media/G9665/
516 20160106T10:25:55 sudo umount /media/*

And then followed the instructions from the update process.

Does the .bin file need the executable permission bit set?

Oh wait its FAT32, so never mind that.
