Wondering about firmware support. I assume the CDV300X's being sold online are from TCL. Does this manufacturer provide firmware support?

I've heard that dealing with TCL is difficult or impossible if your are a normal consumer.

Would the distributors have better access to firmware and are able they able to provide firmware support for the TCL product? - such as Foxoffer (@billknow )

I thought I'd take some time to provide my mostly positive experience with the TCL CDV300X dashcam. I have complied two contrasting videos taken from my commutes. The first is a night time video and the second a day time video (my timestamp is incorrect, should be 2015).

Videos are not edited in anyway, quality is 1296P @ 29.97fps, and upon upload YouTube applies its standards.

Is TCL still making the CDV300X? I have found some of the other CDV300 models for sale, none with GPS. The TCL web site now shows, at least in English, only the basic CDV300. I have had no luck contacting TCL on email. They don't return them. Not much better on the phone as I only speak English, Spanish,French and German. I am using Cambox firmware 0.4.3

Each time it starts recording, I will get 4 files created, but it seems to hang while creating the fifth. About 10 minutes of recording.

Terrible video quality

Anyone have any tips around the settings that will give the best video quality? I have tried all the different resolutions available along with HDR on/off and the quality is not good! Just walked outside and did a test of each setting and compared to my 1yr old Mobius cam the video looks like garbage.

CDV300X not overwriting

I have the CDV300x with a Sandisk Ultra 32GB card and my cam has been working fine for about a month without any problems. I don't live very far from work and its only about a 6 minute drive so it actually took about a month to fill up that card with video. I saw something happen the other day and wanted to review it on my dash cam and noticed that my cam stopped recording about 6 days ago and apparently isn't overwriting the oldest files. I have the overwrite option enabled in the options....

We just received the camera yesterday and I had it charged for 4 hours and yet when I turn it on the battery immediately goes to red and it dies. Do I have a bad battery? is there anything I can do about it?

I'm new here and looking to buy my first dash cam. I really like the look and discrete form of the CDV300 and was going to buy one until I saw it mentioned there is a 300e model which includes a radar detector. I can't seem to find this for sale anywhere though. Does anyone have any insight in where to buy one, or feedback on the CDV300 in general?

Hi All
Bit worried now, after the good reviews I read initially about this camera, I ordered one which arrived last week. Haven't had the opportunity to fit it yet as I wanted to hard wire it not liking wires hanging everywhere. Now I am reading they are having trouble with them and to avoid?
Can you let me know what the issues are so I look out for this and if necessary get it returned for a refund? I don't want to go through the process of fitting it to find out it faulty and have to...

I did try searching the forums first, without success, and was looking to you guys for assistance. Naturally, my CDV also did not arrive with the CD mentioned in the manual, so I was lost as to which program I should try to view the videos with GPS data displayed. Next, I have yet to see the diagonal red bar >not< appear across the GPS symbol in the two weeks I've had this mounted in my car. Other GPS devices (Garmin watches, stand-alone GPS sensors, TomTom, etc.) pick up signals properly...

Looking at picking up one of these cams but I have a question for anyone using it currently.

With the larger resolution, on average what is the video capture time you are getting to where you need to finally off load some of your cam vid?

5-8 hours of film time or less...or more?

Has anyone been successful also with a 64 GB SD card?

I just saw that FoxOffer (@billknow) has a "CDV300X" 1296P dashcam in their list of "new for November" products. It looks like an updated A118, and awfully similar to @jokiin's new product... Anybody have sample footage?

G'day all,

I'm keen on using the CDV300 as a rear dashcam due to its discreet and window hugging design.

Does anyone know the length of the power cable which comes in the box?

I'm wondering whether I need to buy a longer cable so that I can run the power cable from the fuse box under the side trims to the rear window.

Also, is the power plugged in through a mini-usb port?
