Hello all and thanks for allowing me to join the forum. I have a Carcam III X8000 for my taxi and its been a great camera and came in very handy in the past for police matters but now its not working and keeps shutting down and I cannot find another, the ones that look like it Im sure are copies.

So I was looking around for another unit and came across this forum and read on about the Z7 and also looked at the videos, they seem pretty good to me and I wondered if...

My Dome Z7 have Real NTK96650, record FHD1080p with h.264 mov format in excellent quality, teardown snaps attached,but battery lasts for a few seconds only, IR LEDs do not turn on at night but still video Ok, do not forget to remove cover from the Lens.

Edit: So looks like Z7 is the winner over G1WH.
1. Z7's daytime video is better in color and focus.
2. Z7's night video also is slightly brighter with more details in darker areas but has blue blotches all over in the dark areas.
3. Z7 has true IR lights instead of regular bulb in G1WH.
4. Z7's FOV is slightly wider than G1WH even though both claim 140 degrees.
5. Most importantly, Z7 is half the size of G1WH. ...

Issues with Dome Z7 freezing at bootup

Hello, my Dome Z7 has decided to no longer properly boot. It now freezes on the screen with the red car during boot up.

I tried using the reset button and it does nothing.

Is there a way to fix this? Maybe update the firmware somehow?

Any help would be appreciated since it is useless right now.

Right then, another new dashcam from the folks over at Shenzen Dome.

Thanks to Gearbest for supplying this one.

This is a cheap ($49.89 at current times before any discounts) dashcam - the build quality on this is surprisingly good for the price (we're talking $10 cheaper than the G1W here when it's not on offer).

Day video quality is fine, night time video has more MPEG compression / artifacts than I've seen before but...

So, I got my Z7 about a week ago. From day1, I noticed screen flickering to white & green and created corrupted video files. Had to power off and back on to fix it. Had this symptom about 2 times within 5 days of use. Then yesterday the screen completely went black and won't turn on. I managed to get it back on after few hours and now all the video got deleted from the microSD card and left with one corrupted file.

Anyone else having these issues?

I bought 4 units from Gearbest
1st unit the car charger was defected
2nd unit doesn't recognize when the car switched off
3rd unit came DOA (do not power on)
4th unit didn't arrive yet
I bought it from Gearbest and their customer support is horrible.

I asked for an advanced RMA regarding unit 3 and they refused.
First, they ask me to send it back to repair then they say they will send a new one but only after they receive my package.

Car Radio Reception Problems With Z7

Hi All,

First post and all that!

Is anyone having issues with car radio reception when using a Z7? Car is a 2011, BMW E90....radio works but reception is reduced when cam is running (confirmed reception is ok by unplugging cigar adapter)

Im sure I read on older dash cams people were having the same issues but thought this would have be resolved by now?

When I went to try to put it in place behind the rear view mirror, where I had planned to have it, it wouldn't stick. Apparently there is some black bumpy film around my rear view mirror. Strange... when my Z7 is hot, it's working fine.
But when I leave it in the car at about 10°C, focus becomes nearer.

Look at both pictures.
First was taken after driving an hour : focus is OK.
Second was taken after leaving the car for 3 hours at 10°C : focus too short, look at windscreen impact.

The upper right arrow show an impact of my broken windscreen.

Does anyone have an idea on how to disassemble the Z7 ?

Here are some daytime videos of Z7 and G90.
G90 videos are more crisp and brighter.
G90's FOV is wider.

Z7 has great detail and quality is also very good but videos are soft compared to G90.
I'm sure if Z7 videos go through a video processer to enhance sharpness, it'll look close to G90.
