Amazon is selling this thing for $52. Bought one as a curiosity. Trying to figure out what chipset it’s using. No mention of it anywhere.

I don’t think it will be up too long for those interested.

@Sunny didn't know for sure either (I'd asked him last week to see if anything in/on the packaging specified and he said it didn't).

The DR-01, however, uses 96655 according to their site (and his review above). I emailed their customer support earlier and will update with their reply.

A119 copy ?:(

Maybe so. For $52, I couldn't resist finding out. Maybe I'll do a comparo with my A119.

The one thing I'm impressed with is the 45 day "free trial" and 2 year warranty. They're trying at least.

But their's item can not get tech supports like Viofo.

I'd guess VIOFO would be well ahead on continuous tweaks, firmware updates, IQ, etc. I haven't needed VIOFO support so far, but you could very well be right. I've chatted with Bill a couple times and he's been great.

So dr-02 is same as dr-01 except for the shape.
I assume lens and other hardware are mostly same unless changed to fit in the wedge shape.

I wish Aukey / Amazon UK would offer similar pricing between the DR01 and DR02 over here. Current UK prices are £42 and £74 respectively, whereas US prices are $70 for both of them.

I bought the DR01 on a lightning deal last week for £34. I'm very impressed with most aspects of the DR01, particularly its video quality both day and night. The only real disappointment is the poor quality mount, which is why I'd rather have the DR02, but not at twice the price.

I haven't done any video comparisons yet, but the build quality and packaging are quite comparable to the A119. DR-02 is shorter but thicker than the A119 and overall feels "smaller".

It look like one "short" version copy A119S!:(

Very early in my testing but ... let me ask you guys, which do you think is which? Or which do you think looks better?

A119 vs DR-02: night around 9PM
- Group A is from one cam. Group B is from the other. I’ve blacked out date/time/other/info identifiers.

A = DR02
B = A119
Assuming the DR02 is like my DR01 ;)

There's not a lot to choose between them. Mostly colour balance, for which I prefer the DR02.

I have a spent a decent amount of time comparing footage between these cams and I’ve come to a conclusion. One is distinctly better than the other, and imho, it’s not close.

I need to do a couple more things, particularly mount them in an identical manner (as well as clean my window), and I’ll post new video footage accordingly. Hopefully this will be useful to someone as I have not seen a comparo between these two.

Thanks for your input @TonyM. I find your insight interesting, particularly considering you own the DR-01.

Couple more images from late afternoon, around 5PM.

Looking at your first set of video frames, camera A (on the right) has more texture detail than camera B in this static scene. Camera B has better highlight control.

In the night driving scene (camera A on left this time), again there's more apparent detail from cam A, but cam B has less motion blur and better control of highlights.

I prefer the output from camera A, but camera B has its merits.

Did you intentionally swap group A and B this time? :sneaky: It was confusing me until I worked it out!
Hint: you can see one camera in the view of the other....;)

This time I prefer camera B, though both have managed a good exposure across the bright and shadow areas.
