The F1 standard lens has a 160° field of view and an F2.8 aperture.

I decided to try installing a 4K 4mm F2.0 lens with 100° field of view: 4K Lens 8Megapixel Fixed M12 Small Lens 1/2.5 inch 4mm 100 Degree

I'm pleased with the results from this F2.0 lens. It has good edge-to-edge sharpness and a decent depth of field.

Comparative frames from the F1 and my A119 (set at 1440p30).
The A119 has less motion blur (F1.8 lens and different sensor). The F1 has considerably more detail (narrower 100deg FOV and 4K sensor).

Night video recording at 4K with the F1 and the 4mm F2.0 lens.

Exposure and colour reproduction are good, and there's not too much detail lost to noise. Unfortunately this lens suffers badly with glare from streetlights.

I could not imagine myself living in a new town with concrete and glass monsters all around, even London started to look bad in places, not lest since the MAX building hight was dropped / changed.

That glass sex toy shaped thing in the financial district

My friends new house, while not super old, i can not walk upright in the highest places and doorways are even lower, i forsee getting a lot of bumps in the forehead visiting him, and not least new years evening when i am drunk might be a issue, already now i am thinking about getting a cheap bicycle helmet.

Here's another daytime video at the same junction, in much brighter conditions where the F1 shows its 4k potential.

Yeah works good.
It can be hard with a regular 1080p dashcam to read the plates on cars 1 lane over. (y)

In the upper photos I prefer the A119. However. at night and in the latter very bright light video, the F1 really comes to life. The DOF and detail in the last video, is brilliant and ideal for data retrieval. I agree with Kamkar on the edge sharpness in the lower video. I'm guessing the street light issue is maybe a lack of an anti-reflection coating or maybe lack of an IR filter given that you appear to have purchased the version without.

When reading the specs, the accessory lens doesn't even appear particularly brilliant on paper. It has a distortion of almost -30%. Pretty impressive result nevertheless though. A good rectilinear lens can reduce this to about -1.5%. Must admit, 1/25" sensor doesn't help much in finding lenses. It seems to be a rarer size.

The seller added an IR cut filter to the lens for me. I notice that they now also list a version with the filter already applied.

I only tried this lens for a short while before going back to the original lens for aerial video. I am going to try this lens again and compare it to some of my other cameras. The night light issue may be a general issue with flare from off-centre bright lights, but apart from that it works rather well.

I have also been looking at trying a more expensive 4k 4mm lens. There are lots of low distortion 90deg rectilinear lenses, but not so many rated for 8MP or 4k. The 4k lenses seem to be suitable for sensor sizes 1/2.5 and above.

I have been waiting to see if GitUp will bring a 90deg lens out soon before buying another third party lens.
