Good choice and cheaper than many others.
Savvy dashcam buyers know to wait a few months before purchasing new models, allowing time for kinks, bugs, flaws to be identified and fixed.Sorry, missed the 1440p part in the V2 footage... Still, the V2 sensor shows its limitations in physical resolution.
I do expect the V3 to improve in IQ with time. As I'm in the market for a new dash cam, I might just opt for the V3 and see how it improves.
Let's not write off the A119 just yet. V3 has only just been released. The A119/P/S model days are numbered, all Hail the A129

Many aren't aware Viofo is about to release another new dashcam model with >stable< 4-clip GPS mount, not the unstable single clip 2016 design. The new A129 Pro has 4K resolution allowing the owner to select 4K or 2K or 1080p and supports optional Rear camera with improved WiFi control. Hopefully the extended Alpha testing phase currently underway solves the brightness issue most 4K sensors have in lower light conditions. I know exactly which offset code to MOD first. I don't think Viofo have released that information yet, there are a few details here: https://viofo.manufacturer.globalso...5/pdtl/Dash-camera/1166620505/4k-dash-cam.htm , although that may not be 100% accurate, especially on the price! What will the rear camera resolution be?
Its too bad the A119 V3 reused the old V2 camera body instead of professional looking A129 design, it could then have been named A139 giving the future 4K Pro extreme title of A149What will the rear camera resolution be?
I think you have put the A129 far too low in the list, presumably because it's resolution is a bit low for your small number plates. For Europe use, I would put the A129 equal to the A119 V3. In situations that require fast shutter speed it wins, in situations which require high resolution the A119 V3 wins. However, you should also take into account that the A129 actually records the same number of pixels as the A119 V3, and the 50% that are facing out the back window can be extremely valuable, so you need 2 A119 V3 to compete properly, which makes the A129 great value, especially with the added Wifi, Bluetooth remote and single memory card with synchronised front and rear video files. The BEST Viofo Dashcam video focus/detail/saturation as of July 2019
#1 = Viofo A119 V3 / 2560x1440p 30fps / Sony 5-MegaPixel IMX335 Exmor R Starvis Image Sensor / F1.6 Aperture 7 Glass Element coated Lens in metal holder / 30 Mb/s bitrate stock FW.
#2 = Viofo A119 Pro / 2560x1440p 30fps / Aptina 5-MegaPixel AR0521 Image Sensor / F1.8 Aperture 7 Glass Element Lens in plastic holder -or- modified F1.6 Aperture 7 Glass Element coated Lens in metal holder / 32 Mb/s bitrate MOD-1Tn.
#3 = Viofo A119 V2 / 2560x1440p 30fps / OmniVision 4-Mega Pixel OV4689 Image Sensor / F1.8 Aperture 6 Glass Element Lens in plastic holder / 26 Mb/s bitrate MOD-6Ro.
#4 = Viofo A129 Duo / 1920x1080p 30fps / Sony 2-MegaPixel IMX291 Exmor R Starvis Image Sensor / F1.6 Aperture 7 Glass Element coated Lens in metal holder / 28 Mb/s bitrate MOD-8Wi.
#5 = Viofo A119S / 1920x1080p 30fps / Sony 2-MegaPixel IMX291 Exmor R Starvis Image Sensor / F1.6 Aperture 7 Glass Element coated Lens in metal holder / 26 Mb/s bitrate MOD-6Vk. (sorry A129 has higher bitrate MODs)
That is going to kill everyone's DAB radio, and probably FM radios tootransmitted through generously long 6m unshielded rear cable.
The A129 at 1080p resolution is excellent and should be #3 since the A119 V2 is discontinued and replaced by V3, it can also move to #2 since A119Pro is also discontinued. My list isn't comparing features its all about image quality and 1080p cannot be equal to 1440p no matter how many accessories it has. Once the 4K (3840x2160p) Pro Duo is released it will replace both 1080p and 1440p models since it supports all three resolutions plus all the toys.I think you have put the A129 far too low in the list, presumably because it's resolution is a bit low for your small number plates. Does it give any benefit? If you want to see the A129 run at 2560x1440p resolution just ask, I'll create a 'up scaled' 1440p A129 MOD just for you.
It happens that A119V3 does not turn on when you start the car - not often, but it is already annoying, today it happened a couple of times.
Yes, and on the table at home, just happened.
Last firmware, but at all this happened !!
How to explain is not yet clear.
that is concerning. Is this only happening when people upgarde firmware? You need to replace that camera, I had the same issue

Agrees, will observe still! No, it’s a hardware issue
Does it do it with firmware V1.0 or V1.01?It happens that A119V3 does not turn on when you start the car - not often, but it is already annoying, today it happened a couple of times.
