This is my side-by-side test-review of 4 x dashcameras.

- Innovv C1 ( old lens ) FW: V06-20140109
- Innovv C1 ( new lens ) FW: V06-20140109
- Mobius B-lens, 1080p-L, FW: v1.13
- Panorama II, FW: v1.08.05

NB! For fair comparison Innovv vs Mobius vs Panorama II, please "ignore" comparison of Panorama II if your targeted budget to spend on dashcam is not 200 usd ( cost of Panorama II 189usd ), because Panorama II considered to be from high-end dashcam class and of course it's performance in most cases is better, so bear in mind price-range differences between all 3 dashcams models not to make too hash judgement on cheaper class products. I have added Panorama II in this test to see how far / close can be popular to this forum mini-action sports cameras ( dashcameras ) Mobius and Innovv.

You will see not only normal everyday driving in nice day-time weather or nice good-lit conditions at night like many manufacturers like "to be honest" on their websites adding only video made in close to perfect outdoor conditions, but also an extensive STRESS-TEST from day and night, where I put all 4 to record in "stress-conditions": pitch dark, rain, low sun-light, direct sun-light, tunnels in-out, etc.

It took me nearly 1 month to finish this test, or about 60 hours in total work of my time:

- building special bracket / mount to "accommodate" Innovv and Mobius as close as possible.
- building a Panorama II special mini-mount also for as close as possible mount to the centre of the car windshield, so it will be closer to other dashcameras for more correct tests.
- settings / configurations set-up / mount in car
- driving at day time
- driving at night
- editing / synchronizing ( putting all files / videos together )
- analyzing / comparing
- writing / posting review
... so it's not as easy as some might think on the first place ;)

P.S. - for day test I accidentally did not installed correctly Innovv C1 ( old lens ) into the top part of the DIY bracket and, I didnt push it all the way to the lens hole, there for you may see very little dark edges in the corners of the video.

MICROPHONE TEST CHART

Sound Micr Day.jpg

MY CONCLUSIONS

There are no absolute winners from this test under default dashcamera settings.

Panorama II of course is the best at night and also at day recording in the dark places ( side view ) against the sun, but has not natural colours and default settings of exposure, AWB, brightness are tuned too high, there for you can see too much white sky and overexposure at sunny day instead of blue sky, but of course we dont shoot Hollywood blockbuster and as from dashcam user perspective , - it does best job of recording needed vital data / road view action.
Bear in mind, - Panorama II is classified as high-end dashcam ( ca. 200 usd ) and can not be taken too seriously into harsh comparison with Innovv / Mobius ( 70 usd ).

As you may see from microphone test, Panorama II and Mobius microphone sensitivity is quite the same, but both Innovv C1 microphones working better than Mobius or Panorama II.

At day time both Innovv C1 models ( with old lens and with new lens ) - they have in some colour gamma more natural ( correct ) colours than Mobius B-lens ( look / compare sky ).

At night Mobius is slightly better than both Innovv C1 models.

If comparing Innovv C1 old lens vs C1 new lens, then Innovv C1 with new lens are slightly better at night than old lens, but new lens have narrower FOV.

Innovv and Mobius, they both have an option to play with settings via GUI.
Innovv has option to adjust only EV value and has unique ANB ( auto night brightness ), but Mobius has much more Advanced Image Settings options to play with than Innovv. However to be honest, it will be too hard to find that individual perfect / correct image adjustment, because to do so, you need to spend hours and hours ( days / weeks ? ) of driving, then stopping, adjusting settings, then checking footage, then again adjusting, then again driving, comparing ,etc. This is total nightmare unless you have 10 Mobius in hand, set image settings on each one to 1 step up / or down, put them all together in car for side by side test in one go, drive, then come back home and see which adjustment worked best for you in particular day or night scenario. Of course for true enthusiast who has time for those tune-ups, - Mobius gives more options to play with settings, so here credit must be given to Mobius. As from "average Joe" perspectives, then "we / they" all like to get product which will be set to use "out-of-box", so here we can relay on default settings.

The widest FOV has Innovv C1 ( old lens ) beating even Panorama II FOV, but unfortunately C1 with old lens is no longer in production.

Mobius B-lens has wider FOV than Innovv C1 ( new lens ), - this can be considered as pros and cons, depending what you are looking for. As we know, the wider FOV - the further are objects ( cars ) and numberplates are smaller with wider FOV lens dashcams, but it give much wider field of view, meaning you can record more side-view action.

NB!

- My tests and conclusion were based on default settings of Mobius, Innovv and can be discussed / judged in this thread only based on those setting !

- This thread has been made only for video performance comparison at day and night based on default settings of all dash cams taken place in this test.

Please do not discuss here other advantages / disadvantages like: who has options of capacitors, who has better look, connectors, mount solutions, more case-colours available, better packaging etc., - those things we can discuss in other threads, just to keep discussions here in correct places and not get messy.
Thank you.

I am going to finish this conclusion section with same words as I started:
THERE ARE NO ABSOLUTE WINNERS in this test !
They all have their own pros and cons, where each individual person can ( have ) to decide which combination pros / cons suits best for his needs in regards to the performance / look / design / price.

Thank you for reading !

Thank you so much, Niko, you are an amazing man. It's no wonder that with such diverse talent on this forum that it is read worldwide.

Thanks for your effort niko. :) ( Again i need that thumbs up smily )

The innovv look better with the new lens, hope my "new" camera arrive with one of those.

Very impressive and detailed testing, Niko! But I must admit, at least based on the samples I have seen here (and elsewhere on this site) the Panorama II night footage doesn't impress me! It looks 'foggy' or grainy or noisy compared to the others (as mentioned as well by Dash Cam Man in the dash cam comparison) - is that a function of the WDR? I realize it may capture more detail as a result, but it sure looks artificial and unattractive as it does so...

You are welcome.
We all learn from this forum and each one brings back to this forum knowledge they have, so it's a team-work ;)

If comparing Innovv C1 old vs C1 new, then there are pros and cons as I mentioned earlier: C1 old has a much wider FOV, but C1 new is slightly better at night.

You are right and I agree, there is no secret that any dahs cam with lower bit-rate ( Panorama II have 12Mbps bit-rate) will have more chance to reproducing slightly more grainy / noisy image, it's not only Panorama2, but most others as well.
There are pros and cons regarding higher bit rate and it's only not because higher-bit rate "eats" a lot more data ( this is not priority concern for me personally ), there are much more to this, I will write thread about this in some stage.
As you mentioned: "I realize it may capture more detail as a result, but it sure looks artificial and unattractive as it does so..." ...
Here is my question: are we shooting a Hollywood movie, or we need as much details at night as possible ? If chose first, then yes - Panorama II ( and most other dash cams ) are no good. If we need to record road-action details, then dashcams with low-light sensitive CMOS are the right choice, despite they do in majority cases have this ( as you mentioned ) 'foggy' or grainy or noisy effect. This goes to almost whole range of high-end dashcams.

Try to imagine scenario where you drive car on the streets with poor light and some scum-bag throws a stone from the side of the road. With high-bit rate dashcam ( which has less noise / "foggy" video effect ), but have average CMOS, - you will not catch an action, but with CMOS like Sony Exmor, AR0331 and other similar ones, - you do catch an action.
If someone thinks higher bit-rate will "guarantee" him more chance to record a car numberplate, then it is not true. Even dashcams with best combination of CMOS / FPS / bit-rate, will be struggling to record numberplates at night due to many factors, some of them I described HERE.

So there are many priorities to consider when comparing dashcams. For some people having smooth video is more important than nigh recording sensitivity, for others is opposite.
As price per value I think all 3 models tested here are unbeatable at the moment in their own dashcam segment, but of course there are many other dashcams released time to time that might bring a competition to them in some stage. Let's wait and see ;)

Well done niko. This is a proper 'tour de force' & no mistake.

It deserves even wider viewing than by subscribers to dashcamtalk, so I've posted links in the Comments Section under the YouTube videos of Techmoan's Innovv & Mobius video reviews, & also on his website in Reader Comments Sections of his Innovv & Mobius reviews. Though for some reason my comment in http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2014/1/20/the-innovv-c1-review.html fails to appear no matter how often I refresh the screen.

I like @ 'Tour de France'
At the end I felt some time its like 'Pariz - Dakar' :)
Thanks for sharing my tests.
Maybe comments on those websites takes some time to review by their moderators in order not to allow "unwanted comments" , if you know what I mean ;)
