You rarely see a patrol car, or even the beat up pickup trucks. I've never seen a police car in the neighborhood i live in, even though they had two major 'raids' on houses recently.

If you see the police cars they are usually escorting 'VIP" vans through town.

Frighting it is just about the same here, my estimate is we are about 50% of the cops needed just to break even with crime, Denmark would have to turn into a police state if the want to stop crime.
Pretty sad, but thats how it is nowadays.

The laws here / sentences for doing crime here are too low, have absolutely no deterring effect, or it have a little for Danes, the people that come here from around the world not so much.

5 - 10 years or so ago, we got a knife law as people was stabbing each other, but that just result if you are taken with a knife you get 2 months extra and the stabbings, well only gone up in the past 5 years.
And i who do not stab people can not legally carry a pocket knife.
And it was quite simple, change the penal code on the metter to, 1 scratch with a knife 2 years in prison ( at least ) - 1 cut that require stitches = 6 years in prison ( at least ) murder with knife = death penalty.

THAT ! everyone can understand and it WILL be better for society and stand up people.
And then people that know how to use a knife can carry a knife, and not be criminals.

Or use the knife to threaten, .....sentence doubles. Any weapon.

Here, in Thailand, a lot of the road rage stuff involves 'swords'. The media seems to call anything bigger than a girl scout knife a 'sword'. A lot of the videos show machetes, sometimes some sort of 24 inch long sword thing. It's amazing, you can't get the motorbike riders to wear a helmet, get a license, drive on the correct side of the road.....but honk your horn at them and they can manage to find a 2 foot long 'sword' hidden on the motorbike.

I'm trying to find a handy place to keep my framing hammer on the trike, within reach of the drivers seat. For 'non threatening' uses, only.

I used to keep my chain and padlock on the sissy bar for easy multiple-purpose access. Never had to use it for anything but locking the bike but it did help to show a few people that messing with me might have some unwanted consequences  And in watching too many Russian car crash vids it seems that a claw hammer comes with every car there as standard equipment  Not hard to have something handy in my workvan, and being a tool it's all legal to have in there

I just found out why many stabbings are in the legs / ass, seem like the gangs here often use a stab or bullet proof west, you can actually also use this defensive means as a civilian Dane,,,,,,,, BUT ! you must register the west by the police otherwise you are using it illegal.
And once again we see criminals dictate the order of the day and regular strait up people suffering for that, cuz it is to keep track of the criminals that law was passed, and of course criminals do not register their west by the police,,,,, why should they.

I simply do not understand why the people that make the laws here can not see how pathetic this is, if i was in charge i would never make such poor work out of the laws i would make.
In my book honest people can never suffer or want for nothing on the count of criminals, criminals alone must suffer the consequences of their deeds.

Thats why I switched to a large framing hammer on my truck years ago, instead of a 'tire tapper'.

That, and a large maglite in the other hand, and I wasn't afraid to check my tires at 4 am in unsafe truck stops, or walk back to check seals and locks.

I actually have a framing hammer near the front door of my house, since I have not found a baseball bat, locally, yet. :)

Especially with a sharpened claw, a framing hammer makes for a formidable "tool". If you can't find a bat, a pick or axe handle is pretty strong and if you soak it in kerosene for a week and let it dry afterward it will be nearly unbreakable for a few years ;) All of the weapons used in traditional Karate are adaptations of farming tools because those could not be banned :cautious:

Well in China, here nunchucks and what ever exotic have always been illegal, and i have never heard of the great nunchuck massacre here, actually never heard of them being used.

After getting reprimanded by police for having a baseball bat in my car, i now have a piece of wood, which i assume are not illegal.
I have also signed up for a bulletproof vest i do not have, which i assume mean i will now get pulled over more often as a self confesses gangster with malicious intentions.

It is funny they try to legislate them self out of the problems, the world simply do not work like that, at least not for the criminals which are the problem.
The Americans. They can send gun collecting patrols of police / national guard / military from house to house, all day and all night for the next few decades, and misuse of guns will still continue to be a problem.

Maybe it is due to me not having tried, but i would rather have some American "problems" than what i consider to be Danish "problems"

Yeah :)

I just blaze my own trail, i am still carrying a pocket knife which have a too long blade - are one hand open and have a frame lock system, all on its own illegal.
Might backfire on me if i get padded down as i am now a self confessed gangster, and Danish police also skimming the edge of the rules in regard to when they can actually pad a person down or search a car.
Anyways ill take it as a man if / when we get to there.

I think all countries have an equal amount of bs and problems, they just take different forms. I don't miss the US, but at least i knew what to expect.

Yesterday I was chastised for using a cellphone while a thunderstorm was underway. I was checking the weather radar. Multiple thais informed me the cellphone attracted lightning, and I needed to turn it off.

I tired to tell them it was an american cellphone, had special lightning protection, but they didn't understand?

This is an intersection near me, on the "Ring' Road and a cross street. The green is 30 seconds long, red 200 seconds. It's common to have to sit through a couple of cycles, mostly due to what the jerk in the maroon nissan is doing. They will use the left shoulder or turn lane to pass traffic waiting for the light, push to the front of the line, force themselves in, (Like this jerk has done) or try to time the advance on the shoulder so they can shoot ahead of traffic when the light changes to green.
It's possible to sit through 3-4 light cycles within 10-15 car lengths of the intersection. Maybe creeping up 20 feet per green, while the jerks sneak through, and create chaos that stops the other traffic.

Nissan jerk says something I can't hear, later beeps the horn.....and actually turns right on the ring road........same as I do, passes me.

When i hit the full, 200 second red light, I usually turn the engine off. Cam stops. The cam was off when the car nosed in front of me. Here is the previous video, also showing missing the previous green light. You can hear me say something about 'the light is half through and nobody has moved.) The 'not moving' refers to the cars stopped due to the clusterf***k at the green light...from the cheaters.

And the neighborhood flooded in the heavy rain, again. After 2 or 3 more times, they may clean the storm drains. a block away from this subdivision, there are some scattered puddles but not general flooding.

I saw Indonesia and east Timor was also hit bad.

We are far from the ocean, and the storm was not exactly 'big' here. Most of the city and the province had no flooding. I need to check the area west of me, they get a side street flooded so badly they eventually bring in a gas powered pump and close the street. The water has to come up 3-5 more feet in my neighborhood to be a threat to the houses. I was out in a farm village when the rain hit sunday. I've seen much heavier in florida. There was no flooding out there. This is a city problem related to the storm drains they don't maintain.:) The good thing is it cooled off 20F for a day, now creeping back up.

I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen many snakes, recently. Usually dead in the road.
I was just thinking about that today, as I headed out into the countryside. The GF is poking me in the back and I'm a little distracted,, at least I didn't shriek like a 9 year old girl when I saw the snake on the pavement ahead of me, and about a foot away from my feet. Not sure what kind of snake it was, except a 'fast' one.
:)

Got the impression it was about a meter long, thin bodied. Probably harmless, but many nasty snakes here, also.

Watch about the 1:19 mark

Are snakes on the menu there?

Yes. Not my menu, though.

:)

I used to spend time in small village, in the next province west of where I live now.
My friends house backed up to some sugar cane fields. The village houses were kind of close together.
When they were burning the sugar cane fields the snakes and rats would escape the fire, sometimes via the houses. Sometimes they would enter the back door of my friends house, sometimes urged on by a middle aged lady with a broom to exit via the front door, but generally they were just passing through. :)

The neighbor next to her thought of it like a food delivery service, and during the burning season, he always had multiple snakes hanging up behind his house....in various stages of skinning/butchering.

Here's an edited video. No idea what kind of snake, except it does a good 'u turn'.
