OP was driving the car, Land Rover was behind, as car was slowing for the 30mph the "Land Rover Sport" went to overtake the car, the car pulled to the right side of the road to block the Land Rover, Land Rover took avoiding action by going onto the grass on the left passing the car, Land Rover lost control of steering so hit the brakes hard sliding across the road in front of the car. Car drove into the side of the Land Rover.FFS man. Spill the beans
So the collision was the car hitting the Land Rover and the insurance put the blame on the car driver, which the car driver disputed, hence the 4 month delay before starting this thread...
If there are no parked cars then the approach to the 30 seems like a legitimate place to overtake, assuming the car in front isn't going to swerve in front of you and slam the brakes on, and those Land Rover Sports can be surprisingly quick on acceleration along with Google like visibility, so maybe the car driver misjudged the overtake legitimacy, speed and timing:
