exFat to FAT32 SmartDisk Fat32 Format Formatter Tool Utility ( How to )

I,m having a problem formatting Sandisk 64GB micro SDXC 1 with SmartDisk Fat32 Formatter Utility Tool downloaded from the link at the top. Windows Explorer recognizes it properly as exFAT. SmartDisk says "No HD compatible drives".

Any suggestions? I'm using Windows 7 pro.
UPDATE
In case anyone is having the same problem the following worked. Worked instantly and is only 76KB long!
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.exe
My mini 0803 now sees the card. Now to see if uses 64 GBs.

FYI: The new Panorama II, S, & G firmware added exFAT file system support for >32GB cards (64GB, 128GB, 256GB).

exFAT is fine for some cards, will error with others. The recommendation is to still manually format any card over 32GB to FAT32, if you experience any problems on exFAT

The original SmartDisk Fat32 Formatter Utility Tool posted isn't working in Windows 8.1 64bit so far.

I tried Fat32Formatter version 1.1 (strange error, can never click the format button after initialize)

I also tried Windows GUI version of fat32format (same error below even after a fresh reboot)

Any other options that work on Windows 8/8.1 x64?

You are right clicking and running those as admin mate?

I run that fat32format ok on mine which is also 8.1 x64?

I've noticed sometimes mine doesn't enumerate properly and sometimes I have to drop to a command prompt, run diskpart and then when that comes up type rescan which usually sorts it all out - may be worth a go?

Yes, same error

Oh, I.D. 10-T error. I didn't realize you had to actually click on the Bar first. (turns green)

But still fails :( I'm using a modern Transcend USB 3.0 microSD adapter.
I tried reformatting in Windows NTFS again first, then Fat32Formatter again, same error.

@Pier28 This happened to me with my SanDisk Ultra 64gb sd card so i formatted it in widows, them formatted again with (http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.exe) and it worked fine again.

Bingo! (that was it, Bravo)

Here is a helpful visual step by step for anyone else.

1) in Window, right click your microSD/SD card you've inserted into your card reader. (Format)

2) Format Default settings. (might need to click "Restore device defaults" Quick format is fine

3) Download the following: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.exe
Right click it, menu pops up, select Run as administrator. (not sure this is needed but never hurts)

4) Make sure the right drive letter is showing (mine is F: yours could be different)

5) Click "Start" and You'll now see FAT32 instead of exFAT

Not every DashCam can break it's 32GB limit. The Panorama can go up to 256GB for example.

I recently received confirmation that a
PNY 256GB Elite Performance SDXC 90MB/s Flash Card (P-SDX256U1H-GE)
is working in a Panorama after formatting to FAT32 via the instructions above. It's been less than 24 hours so I'll follow up if anything funny happens.

Amazing that you can by 256GB for 100 bucks! (wow)

I tried formatting a Lexar 64GB Micro SDXC UHS-I class10 card with the SDFormatter V3.1 from Pittasoft but my DR550GW wasn't recognizing it. I then followed the steps mentioned above in the previous post and tried formatting with Windows but the capacity field says it's 27.6 GB. It also shows FAT32 (Default) in the File System field. What happened to the 64GB? How do I correct this? Am I out of luck now?

If you can't even format that 64GB in windows any more, it's time to use disk management to delete the partition and start fresh. You might even need to do a "clean" disk part operation via (right click, run as administrator) command prompt. See this page:

I just tried following the steps in the link and it doesn't seem to have deleted the partition. Under disk management, it still shows "Healthy (Primary Partition)" and not "unallocated"? What am I doing wrong?

What Version OS Windows? Reboot and try again.
Are you using a microSD SD adapter via Laptop SD card slot reader, or USB memory card reader? If USB, is it an older SDHC or newer SDXC?
Did you open the Command Prompt elevated? (win8 method here) You have to right click on the command prompt short cut, menu will appear, click Run As Administrator. (or no action will take)

Found this video to better walk you throw in case you missed a step.

Windows Vista. Used a micro SD SD adapter via Laptop SD card slot reader. Opened command prompt elevated and used clean all. Didn't take long. Hit enter and it was done within seconds. Thanks for your help. Will reboot and try again. You think I should use a usb adapter instead?

Yeah switch it up, some laptop SD card readers don't have the proper controller on them to talk to >32GB SDXC cards. Try a newer USB card reader that is SDXC compatible. (many cheap ones are SDHC or flakey with XC)

If you get fruther, you could have a fake/bad card too, so end your testing with h2testw and post the logs.

Version of windows is Vista not 7. Sorry. Would this matter? Purchased the card at an Office Depot store that sells office supplies.

Vista has many issues in general, but I don't think it should effect what your'e trying to do here. (follow the 7 directions) Visa = Old = SDHC card reader so most likely not SDXC compatible.

You should get a new USB SDXC card reader such as this one:
https://shop.pier28.com/index.php/memory-cards/iogear-microsdxc-sdxc-card-reader.html
or
https://shop.pier28.com/index.php/memory-cards/startech-usb-3-0-multi-media-memory-card-reader.html

Just used the usb card reader and checked the card's properties and it now shows 59.6 GB and NTFS under "File System". Do I still need to format it to FAT32 to get my DR550GW to recognize it?

Yes,
No DashCam that I know of will work with NTFS file systems. Go for it. (format FAT32)
