"Published on Nov 6, 2015 Whats happening behind the camera.

Would-be carjacker slams hand against driver side window, and is pointing gun at my head.

Me: Uh? Okay. Okay.
Would-be carjacker: Put the car in park. Put it in park hurry up. Get out.
Me: Okay. Okay.

Would-be carjacker yells to his friend on passenger side to get in. Then he accidently hit the magazine release on his gun. You can hear it hitting the pavement. While he is scrambling to get his magazine I jump back into my car.

Would-be carjacker: I swear to god I will beat your Bxxx @$$. There’s still one in there. Fxxx! There’s still one in there Bxxx.
Would be car jacker still messing with his gun. I am trying to get my car in drive.

Would-be carjacker: Bxxx I will knock your Bxxx @$$ out if you don’t get out of this car right now. Get the Fxxx out of my car.
I floor it out of there.

Me: Deep breath."

Considering the guy had a gun pointed at his head, this probably wasn't the brightest idea.

He also said he drives a Sebring :/

Proberly dont learn to drive with one of those in the ghetto :D Dude hitting the MAG release  :p that would have been my que to go polka on his ass.

I am pretty sure as the would be robber dive for his mag his face was wide open for a swift knee, and then a follow up from my F&F magnum ( Fist & foot )
Though if i was a Houstonian i would proberly be packing myself in that case the question is will be.
A. do i need to fire 2 rounds or
B. Empty my clip into the back of my own car as it drive avay.

Ill go with A or less with this dumbass.

I'm a Houstonian, I don't carry. But then I don't live or work in the hood either. Unfortunately I know that doesn't mean much - a police officer was recently murdered about one mile from my house while he simply refueled his police cruiser.

I do own two pistols but have not gotten my CHL (concealed handgun license) so I can't carry them in public if they're loaded.

Not sure i would CHL carry either, but i have to admit i allways been a bit over the top when it come to firearms.
Sadly that for the most mean i had to get my fix illigal :( but it is quite easy for me to envie the ppl of Texas and what can be done there.

All the things i cant get,,,, those are the things i want  it have been that way all my life :p
If i take a intrest to a sport, you can be pretty sure its only marginal here or not done at all  same with my hobbies, i allways manage to find somthing only a fjew ppl do here.
Right now i like field target and benchrest shooting with my airgun, but there is no clubs or places to do that here to my knowlege. so i have to get a little creative with the law just so i can enjoy a pretty mondane sport/hobby.

Until they make a cop small enough to carry in my pocket, I choose to bring my two best friends - Smith & Wesson

LMAO! That's awesome! I have a device called Blackjax in one of my cars. It is made by Clifford and anytime you start the car or a door pin is opened while the car is running hence you get car jacked you are prompted to enter a pin number in a hidden keypad. You have 20 seconds to enter the code and if you don't a siren sounds and about 20 seconds later the car will turn off once the RPM's hit a predetermined setting which is adjustable. The car will not start until the correct pin # is entered. Some may think it's annoying but I don't mind. The carjacker will be a safe enough distance away and your car will be close enough to recover yourself. BTW that totally looks like a Ford seat pattern and shift knob. Maybe a Ford Focus or Escort zx2?

what a crazy thing to fit as it takes away your choice to hand the car over and survive if you come across some deranged lunatic with a gun...

Better to hand the car over and use a remote fob to cut the engine when you are out of harms way and its only a $8 dollar fit !

No remote. It's activated every time the driver or passenger side door is opened. Actually what sets it is when you press the brake pedal. You can leave the keys in the ignition, get out & as soon as the carjacker presses the brake pedal the timer starts. Then you GTFO of harms way & call the police. It's pretty neat. My unit it only the Blackjax & not the alarm. They have alarms that incorporate the Blackjax system too.

Dave

oops. I didn't read your post well as I didn't get the bit about the revs !!!

The revs part is for safety reasons. I think default is 1,200 RPM's. They figure you would de-accelerating & it would be safer to turn off the engine rather than accelerating in front of fast moving traffic.

I have this device, known as a "stickshift", installed in 2 of my cars. :D

not sure what kind of car it is in the photo since i didn't take that photo. my wife actually sent me that pic earlier this year since she got a kick out of it too (she CAN drive stick since i taught her how in the miata, but she doesn't like it). i thought it might be a saturn, but i think you may be right that it's an escort. either way it does look like an economy car.

You might be right too. Like anThe shifter boot looks different on the Fords. Neither of my cars are manuals right now but my next will be for sure. Miata's are fun cars! I am hearing lots of good feedback on the ND Miata. The curb weight is very close to the NA's curb weight. How do like your Miata?

mine is a 97 - the last of the NAs (first generation for non-miata/mx5 people). the radiator lasted a little over 180k miles before it got a hairline crack in the top plastic during an autox. i had just finished my first run and as i was slowly driving back to grid, i noticed that the throttle was stuck, holding it at about 3k rpm. sometimes my cheap aftermarket cruise control does that. usually putting in the clutch and blipping the gas a few times fixes it, but not this time. i got back to grid, popped the hood, fixed the throttle cable, and as i was about to close the hood, noticed that the top of my radiator was wet. looked around and found the source, then decided to park the car. another driver let me take a few runs in his car just for fun, so i could still have some fun. thankfully it happened in the morning, so i could let the car cool down. at lunch i went across the street to wal-mart and bought some epoxy and a few gallons of water, just in case. used my pocket knife to rough up the area around the crack and clean up the spilled coolant, then slopped the epoxy all over it. let it cure for a couple hours, topped off the radiator, and drove it about 70 miles home, where i parked it. and it's been sitting in the garage ever since - our second child was born shortly afterwards, and my spare time evaporated. i have all the parts i need to do everything (timing belt is due, among other things), so i just need to DO IT.

other than that, it's a great, fun car. it needs a new soft top, but i won't do that till after i get it running again. and even then i may not, since i have 2 regular cars, the miata can be my toy car and just not have a roof at all. :p on the other hand, i'm thinking about selling it once it's running, and maybe also selling my old 98 camry and upgrading to something a little newer. maybe a tacoma x-runner. :)

That's cool! The Miata is a great platform for lots of fun stuff. There's a guy on YouTube with a channel (Tom's Turbo Garage) & he just built a Mazdaspeed version and dropped in an LS3. His entire build is on his channel. Very detailed episodes. I have a 6 yr so it's not too practice. Right now I have one fun car (El Camino with a drivetrain swap) that's somewhat practicle. I would love to get another Evo but just as a weekend car as they're pretty expensive to maintain as a daily driver. I had an 03 & I sold that one for a pristine 06 MR. I miss the engagement of those.

Evos are a blast to drive - i got to drive a friend's at an autocross.

I wouldn't mind an LSx swap in my miata, but i haven't the time or money to do it. plus it'd put me in a completely different class for racing, which i don't want to do. sure would be fun though!

Cool! I never had either of mine on track or a course. Well I drag races my 03 just for the heck of it but it was only once. The steering feel on those reminded my of the Invader go-cart had as a kid growing up.

Why don't they use this PIN# and stall technology to keep drunks from driving?! I actually contacted Clifford with the idea. The keyfob randomly generates a PIN that must be entered on the keypad before the car will start. That pin entry might be enough of a challenge to prevent a really drunk person from getting the car started. They could also incorporate a shut down if the car is driven erratically.
