Unfortunately 5m is not long enough, at least 7m (or better more) are sufficient if you like to hide the cable using the possibilites in the car, i.e. cabling from the DVR unit behind the dashboard, between or beside the seats and hiding the cable in the ceiling or at the ground to a rear cam...

Use a hard-wire connection kit for that. It will shut off the cam if battery voltage drops a certain level. But: may be its a good choice to replace the cam with a more reliable model...!? ;) Regards

I am not familiar with the Blackvue operation, but if I put a blank SD card in my Finevu the files mandatory for operation are copied from firmware to SD card. Also the directories are created. Does a Blackvue not act in the same way? Regards

Sorry to say, but best choice is to contact the reseller for a replacement or any other new camera. I agree with jokiin and sludeguts ;). There are so many different types for this model, some are working well, others not. Its hard to say which one is reliable and which one not. I wouldnt buy...

Just guessing... if you are using the same cable as when connected to the PC: try to shake the cable when connected to your PC. May be the cable is faulty and due to the car movement the behavior is different than while still laying on a table. Also how did you connect the power to the cam...
