I started having problems with Mini 0803. While going down the road it would stop recording. Press the record button and it would start recording again....for awhile, then stop again. Also some times when I start the car the cam doesn't start. I took it apart and the battery is completely dead. No volts. Is this typical dead battery problems even though the cam is plugged into the car?

I think the dead battery should only affect the saving of the last file and not the recording, but I could be wrong. For the recording issue (starts then stops) try formatting the card in the camera. I have this problem from time to time and reformatting the card has resolved it every time so far.

I replaced my battery with capacitors and from time to time they completely die (when I turn the ignition on then off again to quickly or when I don't drive the car for several days). It's never caused the camera to stop recording when it has started, but once or twice it has cause the camera to fail to start during power up.

Where can I get a new battery, my indicator light flashes Blue & Red all the time it seems battery never charges? Can I charge it when unit is taken out of the car?

You can try charging it inside your house. Just use your phone charger with the appropriate cable. However if it won't charge in the car after a good drive, then it most likely won't charge at home either.

This link might help as for replacing it. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/how-to-replace-battery-on-mini-803.9246/

Thanks mr_milo, I connected it to my cell phone charger and it is now charging! When it is fully charged I will set it up not to display what is being recorded constantly! This might remedy it not being able to achieve a full charge ? I was not able to change this setting before because it would shut off shortly after I removed it from mount because battery was depleted! This unit is a mini 0805 1296P Super HD Built in Polymer battery 3.7V.350mAh

Thank you for all the replies. As I said the battery was completely dead, bulged also. Didn't show anything on my volt meter. Then I noticed the A7 chip was completely loose on the one side, so I soldered it. Next I bought this battery http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DCF94MU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
It was a perfect fit. Next I'm going to drill some holes in the case to release the heat. Maybe add a small fan like the one forum member did. I'm sure high heat contributed to the camera problem. Maybe if it works , I'll keep it for a bit, give it away and buy a camera that can withstand higher heat.

Jan - Mine is mounted continuously on my car and has seen several 100+ degree F. days. Today should be 98, tomorrow 101, and Wednesday 104. I'll let you know how the camera fairs but I think it should be fine since I'm running capacitors and only have it recording with the car (and AC) running. The capacitors (at least some) need to be mounted externally so it's not the prettiest but it sure resolves all the battery heat issues. See it here.
