What cable to power with a powerbank?

Hey does anyone know if you need a USB cable without the data cable in it to power the Marcus 5 off of a power bank (those mobile lithium ion batteries)?

I have just tried my Marcus 3 with a Jackery Giant + and an On PS3 Mini B cable from Walmart and it seemed to power on okay I didn't have a card in, but it came on and gave the card warning.

PS3 is Mini B
PS4 is Micro B
I have used both for DashCam use with no issues.
