Can you comment on what the major differences are with the Vantrue R2 2K model? Wondering what improvements were made this revision. Is it worth the upgrade over the R1?

Also curious about parking mode in the R2, battery or super capacitor? Does parking mode only engage when car is moved or does it auto turn on for every motion detected?

Good question! Compared with R1 Pro, the R2 features:
- WDR (Wide dynamic range). This made the image of R2 more balanced and clear in high contrast condition.
- Exclusively new setup interface. We made a change on the setup menu interface, more convenient and easy to use.
- Parking mode triggered by the motion detection. The motion detection will only be active in Parking mode, will not function when driving. It’s easy to switch the camera to parking mode by just one press, and when the car restart and move, the camera will auto come back to the driving recording mode.
- We made another USB port on the suction cup mount, when joint with the camera, you could plug the cable to the port on the mount. This made it more easy to hide the cable.

It has a 500mAh rechargeable built inside. The parking mode is based on motion detection. It’s easy to switch the camera to parking mode by just one press on the hot key, and when the car restart and move, the camera will auto come back to the driving recording mode.

Thanks! So with Parking Mode being motion based is there potential for it to be too sensitive picking up people walking by and draining the battery before any real danger happens? I was under the impression (and could be wrong) that the R1 Pro had motion detection and a separate G-sensor based parking monitor mode that would wake up when the car was jostled or moved rather than just bystanders walking past. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a battery powered parking monitor, but I'd like a product that I could leave relying on battery power and only wake during significant events thus hopefully lasting long enough until i return to my car, rather than draining to quily running motion detection and recording people walking around.

Yes, the R1 pro has a parking monitor function that will wake up the camera to record once it senses an impact caused to the car, this function works when the camera has been turned off, so it is a good choice if you don't want to use the parking mode triggered by the motion detection, with which the camera should be powered all the time.
