Has anyone converted a std 12V/microUSB power cable to hardwired?

The typical 12V cable assembly that's provides with dash cams steps 12v down to 5v for the microUSB, so I imagine there must be a way to open it up and perhaps with a bit of solder and wire, convert it into hard-wired arrangement. If anyone can point me to an example of doing this, I'd appreciate it. Since it would be hidden, it doesn't need to be particularly pretty.

if you open it up and disassemble the plug you can wire to the cig plug terminals, not hard to do

I cut the cig plug end off and wired in 12v jack. Now I can plug it in to almost any 12 volt source. In the house I can power it with a 12 v power supply. In the car I can hard wire a plug.

I got 10 female and 10 male connectors off ebay cheap.
