After retiring the Mini from active duty, I removed the neodymium magnets that were stuck around the lens's rim holding the CPL filter. The visual after removal of the magnets and sanding off the glue didn't look pretty. Decided to cover it up, regardless the Mini is ever used again or not.
After using Rust-oleum's matte black peel coat, I wasn't happy with the grey colour tone in the finished look, though the texture was better.
Decided to give Plasti Dip a try.
Masked and toothpicks stuck in the venting + microphone holes
Others bits masked
Interlocking and overlapping edges masked
The result after 4 coats
I'm not completely satisfied with the end result, the coats could have gone on thinner (not as forgiving as Rust-oleum peel coat). Probably give it another go later.
Great way to cover up the crap printed on most of the Chinese dash cams and action cams.
