Switched the lens on my rear mounted C2 unit with the new D lens.

Mobius (D Lens) - (F.W V. 2.41) - 1080p @ 30 FPS, Bitrate - 18 MB/s, WDR - On, CPL - No

All other settings are at default, lens profile selected is for the C/C2 lens.

YT's compression degrades the videos quality by introducing macro-blocking, especially with daytime footage. Download the linked RAW files to view the original uncompressed quality.

FOV is a lot narrower than the C2 lens, looks almost equal to what I could see from the A119S when mounted in the rear.

Will add videos with the M1 looking out the front windshield in a few days.

Seems dim and seems to struggle with lighting changes too. Might try different lens settings in msetup ;) That got Dashmellow's A2 lens looking a lot better.

Thanks for the wide variety of vid conditions, much better than a 'quickie' run :D

It's already on the C/C2 profile.

As Dashmellow mentioned, both the new A2 and D would ideally need their own lens profiles. Hope there's an update in the works.

Have you had the opportunity to try the A or B profile with the D lens?

I can certainly see some issues with some of these D lens videos but in many ways they don't look bad at all, especially that last clip of the market which did a decent job with the diverse mixed color temperature lighting.

Haven't tried A or B yet. It's not bad but as per the current scheme of things, the C2 looks a lot better.

OK, thanks. I mention it because I've discovered that the B setting on the A2 lens provides much better results than the C setting on the A2 lens. (Hope to post about it on the appropriate thread soon when I can sort out some screen shot examples.)

Talking about the A2, the dimming issue is a lot more prominent. Behaves almost like the Mini 0805 on spot metering, goes totally dim. Clearly visible in the market video in the A2 thread.

Which of the two market videos are you referring too? I think I'm not clear what you mean by "dimming" issue beyond the challenging lighting conditions in the market. So far, other than the white balance issues and color shift I haven't experienced anything I would describe as dimming with the A2 lens. Maybe I'm missing something.

OK, I see what you mean. I think the camera is basically trying to contend with the challenging lighting conditions and is reacting to the very bright reflection of your headlights off the white car(s) in front of you. The problem resolves as soon as you have some distance from the white cars as the dynamic range of the scene opens up. You are asking a lot from this camera. All in all I think its doing a nice job with this night time market scenario considering that the tech is getting long in the tooth.

I do see your point in that this may be more of an issue with the A2 lens than other lenses. So far, I can't seem to solicit an answer from Mobius to my question about the aperture of the A2 lens but I suspect that it is smaller than the original A lens and may be contributing to what we are seeing here.

Sorry, this if slightly off topic, but what is the difference between the D lens and C1/2?

As per the manufacturer -

The brandnew wide angle lens D for Mobius ActionCam, Lens Module only. A little smaller angle than lense C2, with distortion correction

Wide FOV: Horizontal FOV to 120 degrees, F/2.8 and f=2.66!

Rear mounted - front facing.

Sunny

Dusk

Astronomical dusk - Headlights ON

Thanks , very interesting .Mobius is still my main camera so will experiment with new lens.

I've been running a D lens for quite a while comparing it to my previous C & C2 lens cameras...I like the D so much I've bought two more to replace my C2's.

Its impressive that the maker is still developing the M1 after all its a few years old now hopefully it will continue.

IMO the C2 is far superior to the D lens in low light.
