E1_SOCKET_TIMEOUT_ERROR

Hello all,
Got a brand new AR790 but no matter what I do with the app I get the error:E1_SOCKET_TIMEOUT_ERROR.
I connected to the dashcam using wifi first then opened the app as suggested in this thread: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/lk-7950-e1_socket_timeout_error.19734/#post-257489
But it did not make any difference. I also upgraded the firmware from 3.0.5 to 3.0.7, but no luck...
Tried all the voodoo incantation I could think off. Any suggestions?
My Android device is a Nexus 6P running Android 7.1.2.

Quick update for anybody interested.
I was eventually able to connect the wifi using my old-and-busted tablet running Android 4.1 (JB).
I contacted the manufacturer at (support@qrontech.com) and got an answer/reply today:
Hi Sebastien,

Sincere apologies for the inconvenience you experienced.
We are currently going through the test and are preparing the update of the application to solve the compatibility issue with Android OS higher than 7.1.2
When it is ready, it will show on the Play Store for you to update your app.

Hopefully the app update will not take too long, until then and old android device can connect.

Thanks for posting this, it answers the same question I had about this error. Hoping for an update soon.
