Hi all,
got my M2 a few days ago. my question is, must i use the brass mount for a heat sink? if i will not attach it to the M2 the camera will get dangerously hot or can i do without it?

thanks.

I've been using my M2 in the car for 7 months without the brass heatsink without obvious problems. However the UK climate is not particularly hot so you may need additional cooling where you are.
I think I encountered heat-related focus shift on the first day of use when leaving it running in a parked car, but I've not seen that again since. And I can't recall whether I had the heatsink attached that day.

Well, installed the M2 in my Alfa GQV a few days ago, so far so good. attached it to the roof with 3M scotch. on the front got the M1, also attached with 3M scotch.

In Texas, I used a lathe to turn a larger brass donut to attach it to a 1/4" stud epoxied to the underside of my rear view mirror module.
I painted it black, but that's not shown in the pics. it hasn't failed me yet, but it's only been a couple months. 20170525_203018_zpsqruk8qvi.JPG 20170525_203408_zpsxllpafux.JPG
