A119 Firmware

Or is the 64Gb card the culprit? Max 32Gb recommended by Viofo, but I read on the forum that 64Gb is also ok.
Lexar 633x 64GB (~90 MB/s read) works fine for firmware update
Lexar 633x 128GB (~80 MB/s read) works too (I think that dashcam reads card longer)

that sucks, not upgrading it yet then, im happy with the beta currently lol.

yeah, me too! hope 2 see HDR in official release soon! and yes, you can easily capture the plates at night! jokiin was saying it was impossible, and i am saying - everything's possible ^^ greaaat job, Viofo, way to go!

edit: going around 50-55 km/h

Hi,

updated my firmware to 3.4 and now the device resets constantly...is there a fix for this issue?

I have the GPS mount if that matters...no idea what firmware I updated from but it was working fine before the update.

Try plugging power into the camera instead of the GPS mount, see if that helps.

If the menu settings that you set are not holding after a power down (suggest checking "Time Zone"), then you may need to load the boot loader file (LDBA119.bin) prior to reloading the firmware V3.4. Just follow the instructions at the Viofo support site: http://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000019600-viofo-a119-car-dash-camera-firmware. The A119 boot loader needs to be loaded first if the version you are upgrading from was prior to A119 V2.0. Otherwise, the firmware does not load properly. It won't hurt anything to load the boot loader if you are not sure what your previous version was. The LDBA119.bin file download is located at the bottom left of the Viofo support web page referenced above.

Did you manually default the cameras settings after updating? Do so, if you did not.

If it's possible that your camera was running V1.1 or older, then you'll need to update the boot loader as well (like 5cowbells stated above).

This is the problem I had, used the loader and all was working after.

Thanks all, plugged the power into the cam directly worked.

I will try the bootloader on the weekend, hopefully that works as I like the cable placement better going into the GPS.

Good evening, I did not understand, after all, there is or not any option for parking mode in the latest 3.4 version of firmware?
Thank you.

There is Parking Mode but no HDR in official A119 V3.4 firmware.

hopefully the V3.5 official firmware comes out with HDR already, even tho it is not as sharp as wdr, it is a good option to have for mostly night drivers like me..

Are you sure this is v3.4?
Time/Date stamp of this file says - 2017-11-17 03:08.
it is, check it when its installed in the firmware version listed on the device. its 3.4. the support page just gets updated in the interim thats all

Hi guys. I just bought a Viofo A119 V2, what's the latest stable firmware that I can put on this baby? I see v3 is already out, but is it stable, or it is a beta? Thanks!

@viofo
updated to ver 3.4 and ran a test.
I found that for some reason the sequential count jumped a number but didn't miss any time. I also noticed that you have made the last 3 digits of the file name continue in sequence after the time has passed the hour. On ver 3.3 it was frustrating to try to work out if I had missed a file as the last 3 digits count would reset on the hour. So you never new if a file was missing.
Also noticed that everytime I put my Samsung card back in to my computer from the A119 it complains and wants to fix it. It does fix it but I don't understand why it needs to.
Here is the file names, note there is no file called xxxxx003 but there is a 2 and a 4?
I had left the A119 recording as I wanted to see if it would keep the number sequence after the hour changed. That part seems to have worked. Great and necessary improvement.

I am also hoping that I won't experience the problem where usually the most critical file is either missing or corrupt. ( I have recovery software but it couldn't find a deleted file so I'm suggesting it never created it.) The A119 really needs an auxiliary power port on it to prevent it losing track of where it is.

On a separate note, the A119 hates a hot windscreen (40deg C +) While the design makes the A119 stealthy it also means that it inherits the huge amount of heat generated from the windscreen. In Melbourne this week we expect 39 and 40 Deg C days of heat. I expect the device will fail until the air conditioner cools the car. In my case my cars air con borders on useless in those heats.
I'm looking in to putting heat sinks on internal chips and memory card. I doubt there will be enough room. The other step I'm experimenting with is drilling more holes in the A119 to increase air flow. One other option is to raise the unit off the windscreen just enough to create an air gap which might reduce the transfer of temperature from the windscreen to the A119 GPS unit. (Hope the update is better at synchronizing camera vision with the gps reported speed of the car. It is out be perhaps 3-5 secs. e.g. The car has stopped at the light but the gps information is still reporting that car is moving.)

Tomorrow will be my test day.
For some entertainment and a win when the A119 does exactly what I hope it would check out this video of a near head on with a Semi.

39-40c is just an average summer day here in houston. my two a119 cameras with no modifications have already survived 2 texas summers. i don't think you'll have any issue either.

as for the GPS lag, there's not much you can do about that. all dashcams have lag showing the speed. watch a few dashcam crash videos on youtube and you'll see it in most any video that has gps speed showing - they hit whatever, and it still takes a few seconds for the speed display to change down to zero.
