I have recently purchased a polarizer filter and filter adaptor for BlackVue DR500GW-HD as per the thread http://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/new-thread-on-polarizer-filter-for-blackvue-dr500gw-hd.2321/
With great results. :D

I did a test with the Roadhawk HD with the CPL filter and the results where similar to the that of the BlackVue DR500GW-HD, so with the help of a fellow forum member erewhon I have designed a similar adaptor to suite.

Nothing fancy however it should do the job. I will known more when the adaptor arrived later in Jan/Feb!

The adaptor ring arrived today and it fits great :)

The CPL metal ring applied onto the adaptor

I decided to use double sided adhesive tape to stick the adaptor to the Roadhawk HD

Good job and great photos!

Your other photos showed the CPL filter mounted a slight distance from the Roadhawk dashcam lens, as dictated by the geometry of the various parts. This did not cause any problems with vignetting, or shadows in the extreme corners of the video? This was a problem in my work with the BlackVue, due to the extreme wide-angle specs compared to most other dashcams.

Thanks for sharing.

I tested the CPL on the Roadhawk today and no vignetting at all, the Roadhawk HD has a 135 degree wide angle lens where as the Blackvue DR500GW is 156 degree :)

Here is the Roadhawk HD mounted in the car

The benefit of the Roadhawk HD as compared with the Blackvue DR500 GW is its lower profile is being only 25 mm in height and 95mm long. The Blackvue DR500 GW is 36 mm dia and longer being 119 mm. So it is not distracting in the rear view mirror.
