If you are adding wire to connect your camera to the power supply or to ground (hard wire or other) you can choose the gauge wire with confidence. The below table is from a distributor of wiring and components in USA. Waytec Inc. http://www.waytekwire.com/products/ Just giving them credit for the table. I have no connection other than as a customer.
The below table shows the distance/length in feet that the wire can be, and stay within the 0-2% voltage drop for the amperage expected and gauge of wire used. If you know the distance and the amperage, then look across to what gauge wire would be acceptable. Typically our dash cams draw very little current (a few amps or less), so small size wire is generally adequate. Use a fuse that is lower than the wire's amperage rating.
