V7 mirror DVR (Foxoffer A122)

In my haste to replace my 'faulty' GT700/K100 mirror DVR, I ordered this V7 from a Chinese website. It promptly arrived 1 week later (see pic 1). By then, I found that the GT700 was ok and the fault was due to the memory card.

Anyway, since it's here, I might as well do a review. Part of me was hoping it is a better model for me because it has a camera positioned at the bottom, instead of at the side (see pic 2). This will mean that it will not capture the dark strip of anti-glare across the top of my windscreen.

Box contents are shown in pic 3, with a cigarette lighter power extension cable, a secondary camera, an extension cable for the secondary camera, and 2 rubber bands to secure the DVR on the mirror.

To my surprise, it came with a secondary rear camera (see pic 4). However, resolution is unknown as I did not test it.

Some closed up pics of the main camera are shown in pics 5 - 7.

Power is through the usual mini USB cable, with the port on top, along with AV-in for the rear camera (see pic 8).

Overall, the construction is of acceptable quality, similar to GT700/K100.

~ afternote: this is the description for the 2-channel model. I will call this the V7-2. There is a 1-channel model, which I will later review and call it the V7-1.

I find the video quality of this model to be sub-par. Hope the 1-channel model fares better!

While I was writing this piece of review, I also contacted the seller and then I realised that I had the wrong model in my hands. There are in fact 2 models of the mirror cam, 1 which is using NT96650/AR033 combination but has only 1 channel of recording. The one that I have is the 2-channel model, using a different chipset/lens (see pic below in Chinese, I've added some of the key translations )

I will update this thread when I get my hands on the 1-channel model.

I have Foxoffer A122 - NT96650/AR033 , Here is how its look installed , Firmware version and Inputs.

And i saw a GPS menu On/Off on settings , I tried wiht GPS module for GT680W, installed in last input near sd card (in Photo right side). Not work. Says No GPS, thats all.
To be honest, i dont know what input is this, maybe GPS, maybe second back camera.

Then i ask Foxoffer how to use GPS.
They send me this answer :

So regret to tell you A122 doesn't support GPS.

Maybe A122 can support GPS in future.

Thank you.

Maybe only firmware need to be changed / updated ?

Externally it looked the same as mine, the V7-2. Did it come with a 2nd smaller camera? You can also check your memory card to see if there are 2 folders for the videos, or only 1 folder.

Externally they are same.

1. No , Camera not come with 2 nd small back camera. Coming only with Charger , Camera and Elastic Hooks. Thats All.

2.Memory card have only one folder. Folder is named CARDV then inside have another folder MOVIE, Videos in .MOV format recorded inside MOVIE folder. Bitrate is 12388 kb/s

3. Bottom is the Video sample.

Yes, as expected, the video quality is more decent and with only 1 video folder, this should be with NTK96650/AR033, and 1 channel only. I will be taking delivery of this in the next couple of weeks while the 2-channel one is sent back to the supplier.

Any night videos or evening ones?

Okay Tweety889 , Here is the Night Video , Very Bad.

But i am thinking this is a firmware problem, because my G1WH flashed with Seezeus Shadow GT300W firmware, recording good at night.

Maybe with update night recordings get better.

Update: the seller claims to not receiving the dvr I returned. Checked the tracking provided by the postal service ... indeed still lying around in the post office of a regional post office

May need to write-off this piece of crap ...
