I found that with steps 1 - 3 done on my phone, I could then use my tablet for full screen preview reception. The steps for the tablet are: connect the tablet to the Yi wifi; open your streaming receiver (I'm using MX Player); input the rtsp address; picture appears.

You may be glad you have a Z22. It is the original manufacture. I don't know what the differences are, but manufacturers sometimes make changes due to component shortages or price changes. I have a Z22 from a local supplier, and am delighted with it.:)

An adapter lead puts less strain on the Yi's micro HDMI. I chose this one.

Yes, please do. It has a good reputation for reliability and capability.

You might consider selling for sapres / repair, or cannibalise another damaged Yi for the part you clipped.

A suggestion. You could try to power up your Yi without a micro SD card inside. I' ve found my Yi is fussy about which brand, capacity and class, but I've never encountered boot up problems with no card in, whatever software version..

@isidorhuwa Thanks for the link http://elproducente.com/ I took a look and saw that a 16GB card is recommended. But for me the Yi on 1.2.0 also freezes with a 16GB Samsung Evo card. We're lucky that @Andy_S makes the older firmware available on his mirror.

@isidorhuwa Thanks for confirming. At least it seems a possable work around has been discovered. Lets hope Xiaomi can provde a solution. Freezes are so inconvenient!

My Yi is Z22 now with 1.2.0. As @cmosfxx identifies, the freezes seem to occur on boot up, in my case when using a Samsung Evo card. Freezing has not occured with no card in the camera, and so far, freezing has not occurred with a SanDisk Class 4; the only alternative I have to hand. I do intend...

On my Yi the freezes also frequently happen whilst trying to take still pictures. I'm using a Samsung 32 evo card. Sometimes I might be able to take as many as 7 pictures between freezes; sometimes none!

Mine is barely warm whilst charging. I connect it to a charger; not a PC. I do recall a post about a hot yi on charge which advised that the Yi should be switched off before connecting a charger, and that is what I do.

And at 1A the power lines of a USB lead will typically drop about 0.5V per meter of length. Again not ideal.

Your car stereo might be able to behave as a connected PC and play any music files you put on the memory card in your A118. For it to function as a dashcam on power up, the A118 must not be connected to a device which makes use of the USB data lines, unless the USB lead used has its data lines...

I noticed that HDMI delivers a full pin sharp HD picture only if the camera is on movie mode. On snapshot mode, and with the 16x9 still picture setting, the picture delivered by HDMI looks like upscaled standard PAL.

Much more assured on a pi!
