    External Mic SJ7

In May of 2017 SJCam mentioned that they were changing suppliers for their lav mic and also making adjustments to the firmware. If you have a lav mic is it possible you received old stock, i.e., a mic that was manufactured prior to the change?:)

Thanks jokiin. I couldn't figure out what I kept doing wrong. Cheers! :)

All the files on micro SD card are write-protected!

Here's the route I took to get to that link: SJCam Official Website > click on Support at the top > new page, click on Official Support Platform box > new page, scroll down to Manuals and click on "NEW! The SJ7 Star Official Downloadable Manual Is Here!" > new page, scroll down to "SJ7 STAR...

All the files on micro SD card are write-protected!

Hmmm, not sure what happened with that link. Let me try that again. This should be the correct link to the official SJ7 manual...

All the files on micro SD card are write-protected!

On my SJ4000 WiFi with firmware G20150408V02 (not the latest) I can protect a video recording by pressing the power button during record. A small key icon will appear at about the 10:00 o'clock position on the screen. Once I've protected a video it can't be un-protected. When you stop...

SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

Yi 2 seems very stable compared to the others.

    External Mic SJ7

So sorry to hear that. Maybe I just got lucky and my P2 Plus happens to be one of those that works with an external mic.

    External Mic SJ7

Yep, I got the SJCam and Movo mics to work. However, the audio on my Dazzne P2 Plus is pretty weak. Even with the external mics the loudness is rather poor. I don't know about adapters except to say the Movo adapter worked. Here's my full review (first one I ever wrote). The website is...

SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

The old SJ4000 style camera clip has threaded connections top and bottom (apparently not the case with the Git 2 clip). You needn't remove the camera if you want to transfer it from on top of a tripod to hanging from a windshield mount. It's more convenient, especially because the SJ7 lacks...

SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

I've used the one included with my SJ4000 for 21 months without a hitch. I've used the one included with my Elephone Explorer Pro for about a year with no problems.

    SJ7 Warped and Deformed

I just received an e-mail from SJCam about this issue. It turns out that there was a problem with a few units during assembly. There was a screw touching another part that caused the unit to overheat. That connection should be soldered. They're upgrading the assembly and QC process. They'll...

SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

Good stuff. Additional mounting accessories look interesting. SJCam accessories are usually good quality. Have you finished checking the external mics from your new supplier?:) EDIT: I just saw the e-mail you sent to me. It looks like you've finished testing the mics from your new...

    SJ7 Warped and Deformed

Have you considered a battery bypass? When the camera is connected to an external power source for charging the battery, if you turn the camera on it would cause the circuit to bypass the battery. Sorry I don't know enough about hardware, circuits, firmware, etc., to know if this is feasible.

    SJ7 Warped and Deformed

I will reiterate, AGAIN, that the battery WAS NOT in the camera at the time the faceplate deformation took place. It's important that you understand this because if you undertake changes to hardware/firmware/manuals based on conditions other than the actual conditions then one can only wonder...

    External Mic SJ7

I've read comments and reviews that say the internal mic does a good job and others (like mine) where it's just so-so. It just dawned on me, could that be because of the difference in position of the mic? On my SJ7 the mic is on the side. I think on later cameras it's on the front, right...

SJCAM Printed Manuals - New Versions with Updated Warnings, QR Code, etc

Comments on new SJ7 guide (continued): 6. In my opinion the warnings about use as a dash cam and removal of the battery need to be much more explicit. If the battery needs to be removed as a matter of safety when one is recording video while using an external power source then it should be...

SJCAM Printed Manuals - New Versions with Updated Warnings, QR Code, etc

Comments on new SJ7 guide: 1. Thanks for changing the name to Quick Start Guide. That helps eliminate confusion with the official User's Manual. 2. Also thanks for correcting the Measurements and Weight. 3. On page 2, Safety Warning 7 is not consistent with 3.B on page 10 nor with the...

    SJ7 Warped and Deformed

I received some encouraging news from SJCam on this issue. In an e-mail they said the following: . . . we will be looking into changing our faceplate material and ways to improve ventilation to prevent this from happening again. We have also updated our manual warnings with several notes...

    External Mic SJ7

The Eaton mic worked well. The SJCam mic worked poorly and the Movo GM100 mic not at all. However, both the SJCam and the Movo (with adapter) worked with my Dazzne P2 Plus.:)

    External Mic SJ7

Here are some pics of the Eaton mic. I originally purchased it to use with my smartphone, hence the TRRS plug. The adapter is actually from a mic that didn't work with the SJ7, the Movo GM100.
