just received my kit today, the one that i got , when set to 12.4V, is only cutting power when reaching 12.30V . it did not cut power on 12.33V once it reach 12.30V, look like there is a build in timer, and it takes around 1min30sec for it to cut the power. not too bad overall . date on PCB...

the thing to monitor now is....... is this problem a one time thing(only happens when changing the microSD card)..... or will it reoccur with no changes done to the camera.....

the cheapest hikvision 4mp mini bullet camera would be better suited..... PoE, waterproof, ir, WDR, networked.... and around the same price.

(1) camera doing a model check before doing the firmware upgrade...... showing you both old, new version and confirmation before proceeding doing the update. if model does not match, display error, saying wrong firmware model.... (2) engrave model under or above the screen. so no white paint...

better Wide dynamic range (WDR). if your car has HID lights, the reflection off the plate makes them unreadable since it becomes a bright white rectangle.

it really depends on which camera/dvr is being used, they all have diferrent rating. for example the ones that you posted said that it uses 15W max. but that's only for the DVR, you also need to consider for the cameras. if you go for ip, you will also need a switch. you may go for a PoE switch...

you can probably configure some camera to only SAVE the file when you press the button, but as jokiin said, the camera will have to be on and running. most , if not all, the dash camera will save 30 sec or so before and after you press the button.

Also, once you start to do wireless, you will have all the security issues associated with it. It will consume more power, be bigger, and potentially less reliable, due to it being more complex. i would want to have a switch on the front lens to turn on/off the wifi on the DVR. this way, the...

Hi jokiin, do you happen to have a dual cam in development? would be nice to have the 2 camera seperate from the DVR unit. this way, the DVR could be mounted behind the dash, somewhere hidden and not easily accessible. this way, if someone does break into the car, they can't just steal the dvr...
