HOW TO: Change the GPS battery in the DR500GW-HD when date is 1970

I will update the necro thread too, i have replaced my battery 3 times now, these things are just not durable. I don't drive my car much, it spends sometimes 2 to 3 weeks in a garage without starting, maybe it is the deep cycling of that battery which is poor too (along with great impact) ...

HOW TO: Change the GPS battery in the DR500GW-HD when date is 1970

I find desolder wick not so successful with this fine surface mount stuff, it has the potential to heat up the tracks an awful amount to the point of lifting the track, trying to draw away enough solder for the component to lift off (mind you with all that pulling that Wozzaaa was doing he was...

HOW TO: Change the GPS battery in the DR500GW-HD when date is 1970

Just some observations watching the video. 1. It helps sometimes to flow a bit of solder onto the joint to help desolder, make sure your iron is fully hot also. 2. Lightly tin the leads of the new battery before trying to solder it to the board will help it quickly solder back again, be careful...

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

1970 files are a usual indication, but with 0 byte files too? I never had that symptom. Do you have a dodgy micro SD card? Maybe first give it a format and a reboot, and see how it goes for a bit. Funny how 3 of the VW Aus guys are all active in this thread!

Car Fire Drive By POP Caught on DashCam Pittsburg California Highway 242

What is the make of that pos? The black marks up to the scene of the rear ender suggests it doesn't have ABS? I thought all cars these days had it?

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

MS621FE, it is detailed earlier in this thread and I think also on some Russian forums. The battery you can just see on the far right of my photo, top of bottom circuit board. The big cap taking up a good part of the photo is used to deliver the necessary power to close files and gracefully shut...

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

Hi, just to update the thread, I replaced the internal lithium-ion battery and have had no more troubles (about 7 weeks trouble free). One thing I noticed which may have some significance is that the speaker wire, black conductor, had melted insulation through to the wire, and was effectively...

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

Nice assumption, but wrong. You can see (well I can) from the log files how it is behaving, the unit gets its time from the RTC on boot up, but if the RTC is significantly less than the last file recorded time (I.e never set or the internal battery has failed) it will use the last recorded file...

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

Not sure what you are implying there, are you blaming user operation for a unit shortcoming? They are designed to operate fine with an erased card. It doesn't copy "crap"as you call it, it copies the fixed system(doesn't change) and config.ini, which everyone I check isn't corrupted. By doing...

DR500GW-HD time & date always off

Mine has just started doing this now, it will commence the next time it powers from the date of the last file saved. You can see in the log file that it does a compare of real time clock with something and if vastly different ignores rtc. It picks up GPS info fine but once it commences...

Blackvue 500GW-HD - Event vs Normal vs park mode recording question

Disable motion sensor, which is obviously always going to pick up little movements of objects away from the car& triggered by video noise. Events still trigger from vibrations with motion sensor disabled, make sure your parking axis sensitivity is set up high to pick up small bumps.

Blackvue 500GW-HD - Event vs Normal vs park mode recording question

The parking mode with motion sensor disabled will only save events (but at the parking G sensitivity). I am running disabled now for motion as even video noise in low light is detected as motion and so it continually records, even at the lowest sensitivity. Shame there isn't another recording...

    BlackVue DR500GW HD with T-Power C

Mine switches off most times when unlocking the car, as I have the leaving home lights on in my Golf and it must drop the power briefly below 11.8V,and the power magic pro seems to cut off the moment there is a dip. I originally had it set to a higher cut off voltage but it was worse of course.

New thread on polarizer filter for BlackVue DR500GW-HD

Adjustable how? The rotation for a polarised camera lens is to get the polarization plane aligned with the what you are trying to achieve. The sun naturally polarizes molecules in the atmosphere, and altering the alignment of the lens alters what reflections from the ambient light will and won't...

Effective range wifi BlackVue DR500GW HD

There was another thread on this just yesterday, you asked this q there already? I struggle to get 3m, going through one gyprock(plaster board) wall. But perhaps the vwgolf has good rf suppression, it does suggest if you need to get anything working such as those toll tags, to put them up on the...

Blackvue DR500GW-HD : New official firmware?

It works in parking mode, if you enabled it before you got out the car (or set it up to be auto enabled). The range is shocking though, my car is about 4m away from my couch (with one gyprock wall with the electric wires of the house running in between) and get flaky reception, have to move to...

That might be how Apple does things, but in other environments, pre-releases of os are released to software developers so they can get their software working before proper release day..
