    A119S V2 Disappointment

The dark car hood takes up 30% of the image and you are under tree canopy so the camera is going to increase exposure. The license plate of the truck is exposed almost perfectly and there is no motion blur from an increased exposure time. If you want to decrease exposure to see the building just...

    A119S V2 Disappointment

The exposure is higher on the a119s which is causing the sky to blow out but it has also brightened the insides of the cars around you (first pics). You have to remember that a dashcam is for recording events on the ground, not for taking artistic pictures. The a119s has more sharpening but its...

    A119/A119s Hatch mount

If you use the plastic mount like normal all you would need is a flat Alligator clip to slip under your roof lining and then stick the dashcam mount to it? Maybe something like a belt clip or like this...

A119 vs A119S Video Comparison - Quick Analysis

To check the focus you need to be outside looking at either text or something textured like tarmac or grass and then rotate the camera over, you will see if something that was in focus becomes blurry, indicating a lens issue. You could also pivot to view a sign or some text between all corners...

A119 vs A119S Video Comparison - Quick Analysis

Lower resolution but twice as often. 1440p is 3.6MP 1920 x 1080 x 2 = 4.1MP 4.1 / 3.6 = 1.12 Video encoding works with differences between frames so the data rate won't go up linearly as you take frames more often, it's probably log or something.

A119 vs A119S Video Comparison - Quick Analysis

Are both videos recorded at 30fps for the comparison?

Looks blurry on the left side to me.

    WDR on A119S

You need Latitude, day of the year and a bit of trig. If you had access to a large storage device it could be precalculated and put into a table.....

Is there any daytime footage of WDR on vs off?

    Viofo A119S videos

Both sensors are BSI (they capture almost all incoming light) and they are both the same size sensor. f/1.8 to f/1.6 is 1/3 of a stop, so not much. I think the most improvements in image quality will be from proper multi-exposure HDR for capturing overexposed number plates at high speed, hard...

    Viofo A119s changes

The IMX291 comes out as the worst in the next clip at 3:54 with a barely readable number plate. It looks like there is too much gain and too much noise reduction.

    Viofo A119S videos

A hard limit on shutter speed would be great but also multi-exposure HDR like the D201: @1:44

    A119 - Whitelabel Products?

How do these things work in China? Is the tooling rented and all components bought "off the shelf" or does Viofo resell their chassis to others? Will these have the same chip and sensor as the a119 and how are they different from the a118 clones that are "fake"?

    Viofo A119S videos

It looks like the S is using a much higher ISO only when in low light. With headlights on they look the same so there isn't much advantage...

    Viofo A119S videos

From what I gather the Starvis technology means: BSI sensor (ov4689 is also BSI) which helps increase light gathering ability. Increased sensitivity at near-IR range Auto ICR (ir-cut filter removal). I'm not sure if this is specific to cctv applications with a mechanical filter?

    Viofo A119S videos

I noticed that on the techmoan a119 samples and jokiin said it was old firmware https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/dashcam-review-viofo-a119-simple-neat-capable-capacitor-cam.22272/#post-293175 If you set 60fps surely it should limit to 1/60 exposure time? It would be nice to have options to...

DASHCAM REVIEW Viofo A119 Simple Neat Capable Capacitor Cam

The 60fps and 120fps mode samples are at night and appear to be frame doubling down to around 30fps (press E in vlc to see the picture change about every 4 frames). Has anyone tried 120fps in daylight?

VIOFO A119 video quality (bottom corners too dark).

The a119 has more detail and a wider fov, go to 00:12 and read the signage. The grass is blurry for some reason but apart from that the image is very good.

problem of uniformity for sharpness ( lens )

Try rolling the camera so it's upside down and then flip the image back in post, then you can compare the left and side sides with the same image. It does look blurry on the left though

    VIOFO A118C2

There's no motion blur on the v2 grey van which can be seen on the v1 image. This would indicate that the v2 is getting more light and using a faster shutter speed to get the same exposure
