Since last September, my Shadow 1s has deformed case due to heat (not even in the hottest months in Florida), lane departure voice is now like a whisper; It reboots/recovers almost everyday and clips recorded during recovery cannot be replayed. There is something loose inside as I hear rattling...

I have that happened to me with the factory firmware 05/05. I just removed power and popped out the card, reinsert the card. It would go again. My card is Sandisk 64GB.

Very good review and I agree with you that video (resolution and color) quality is not as good. WDR is not impressive at all. Their software developers have a long way to go. I was disappointed by the quality, given its sensor and processor are good.

Wow, what the difference a media player can make! I downloaded Registrator Viewer and it not only displayed all info correct, but also rendered video in higher quality. I can see nearby cars' license plates! See photo below, the differences in power lines, street sign. I am quite happy now.

That's great. I will definitely move it next to the 12v-5v converter box. Firmware upgrade improved resolution a little bit but it's still nowhere near the sample video posted on shadow-tec.com. Hope their engineers continue to improve their software.
