vknha is correct. I was playing around with my settings one day and turned the Gsensor off. I pressed the emergency lock button and didn't hear the familiar beeping sounds that it is saving. It took me a while to figure out, but once I turned the G sensor back on, it worked again

If you're set on using your palm side to wipe the windshield, you can try facing backwards too and using the "backhand" method. This way you are able to reach the bottom without trouble. It feels silly at first but it does work quite well.

I'm running Windows 8, playing files copied directly to computer. After an initial stutter, the videos will play smoothly. But then a minute later, back to stuttering. My real motivation is just to see the GPS data. Otherwise, Registrator Viewer is suitable for viewing and zooming into videos.

I am having the exact same problems as you. I was running my videos at 1440 and they play fine in WMP and Registrator Viewer. Dashcam Viewer stutters on and off for me too.

I had the crashing happen several times. But I found it was because it takes some time to load videos (a progress bar will appear). It takes maybe 15-30s each time, and then the video will stutter when I play it. Eventually it smooths out if I let it play long enough. I don't think this has...

I've mounted my dashcam with the grey adhesive tape and haven't noticed any sort of movement in my video or when touching the camera. Granted, I haven't had as much exposure to other tapes as you have, but it seems to get the job done.
