    Which one - A119 / Gitup / Yi

Hi all, long time action camera user new to dashcams. Been researching since last night but there is so much variation! I'm not overly bothered about advanced functions, I want it to work well, install neatly and be good value. So I've looked at the following: Yi 2.7k Ultra - Can get this new...

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

yeah that seems bad. All I can think with that is a bad copy of the standard lens is very poor - not sure

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

I mean WDR is a bit like HDR I guess, it is a kind false effect which can look a bit fake, it isn't a true higher dynamic range sensor but I agree the results look displeasing. probably ok from a drone but a bit false otherwise. I think a bit of dark shadow etc adds realism. I would message...

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

Yeah I dont know much about these Runcams, and I don't use WDR on any of my photography or videography. In theory it tries to stop the image over exposing in the sky, or under exposing in the shadows, I don't know what method they use to attempt this, It does look to have more dynamic range but...

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

looking at that video I can definitely see the WDR, it might add dynamic range but it also makes the image look fake. I would think the cheap lesn (probably a $1 part) would not help at all, the gopro esque one (a $5 part :-)) should really be used. Otherwise it looks alright. About 1080p sharp...

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

This looks exceedingly bad. I have one and I don't think it looks this bad. For one I brought it with the better lens, also i find WDR (wide dynamic range) does not look pleasing, gives it that washed out look....

NEW RUNCAM SPLIT (ex RC3 cube): modular dashcam option??

I brought one of these to fit into a skydive helmet. It's a very impressive bit of kit with a few big issues that need resolving, they told me they are going to maybe make one with some of my suggestions so the V2 of this should be great. Some of the negatives: it has obviously been made the the...

Why 4k should be your preferred option on the Yi

Thanks for this, I find the 1080p footage very unappealing, perhaps it's my eyes are now fussy, however the footage in 1080p doesn't look good to me - 4k it looks much more usable. I also wonder if apart from the rescaling UHD, it's that if these action cams come with a 4k sensor, the camera...

Why 4k should be your preferred option on the Yi

Well fluidity is different from sharpness which is what my above post was about. From the above 1080p output is soft. There is no reason 30fps will not give you a completely fluid video, afterall do you experience this watching tv, watching dvds, netflix, bluray? Well they are all 25-30fps. It's...

Why 4k should be your preferred option on the Yi

Pre: Being a videophile I never saw the point in 4k cameras, being that most screens are not 4k, and even if they are unless they are bigger than 50" you will be unlikely to see a difference (editing, cropping, stabilization aside). However perhaps this is not the case with these action 4k...

Is the YI 4K itself water resistant?

If it makes you feel better, the first time the second time I used my Yi4k skydiving, another jumper made a mistake, rolled and kicked it clean off my helmet. This is very rare, happened to me!

Is the YI 4K itself water resistant?

I can totally understand this, I would feel the same. I mean you can assume all underwater cases by anyone have the potential to flood, I'm sure many gopro cases have. However with it being so new you don't know if that failure rate is 0.5% or 5% and won't know for some time. It might be you...

    Yi 4K Action Camera - Techmoan's Review

I always thought 4k was a waste of time being a bit of a video geek, however right now I'm always shooting at 4k, because: -I might want to screenshot from my 4k video, and 4k gives me alot more to play with -Cropping -Stabilization -Video looks better shot 4k downsmapled to 1080p post

YI 4K Action Camera 1.0.13 firmware [update log]

In theory anything can be implememnted. I've been talking to the software devs about various *best possible modes, also including photo + video at the same time. What you start hitting up against is the processor limitations and bus speeds. Whilst this is slightly faster than a GoPro4 and runs...

Is the YI 4K itself water resistant?

Ok guys! I Signed up just to post this after seeing it on the facebook post. Terrible it leaked hopefully you will get a replacement HOWEVER I did just do some research, to compare to the GoPro housing. It seems common the GoPro UW case would also have a gap, remember it's the O RING that makes...
