    70mai S500 (unboxing & first impressions) (SigmaStar 8826Q, Sony IMX675/SmartSens SC200AI, HDR, 2.5K front and 1080p rear)

A couple of photos below showing power consumption for the 70mai S500, running it through the included cigarette light adapter. On average, appears to fluctuate around the ~5W mark (dual-channel mode, 2.5K front & 1080p rear resolution). Temps look good too. Also performed some temperature...

    70mai S500 (unboxing & first impressions) (SigmaStar 8826Q, Sony IMX675/SmartSens SC200AI, HDR, 2.5K front and 1080p rear)

So I ran some benchmarks with the 70mai branded 128GB microSD memory card they sent over. Speeds aren't the fastest, but they're still pretty decent, so I don't feel like you'll be lacking with this memory card in your 70mai device.

    70mai S500 (unboxing & first impressions) (SigmaStar 8826Q, Sony IMX675/SmartSens SC200AI, HDR, 2.5K front and 1080p rear)

Another month, another dashcam in for review. Thank you to 70mai for giving me the opportunity to test-drive their latest rearview mirror dashcam solution, the S500. At this stage I'm sure the specifications of this device have been stated to death, but some other points worth noting are that...

Vantrue S1 Pro (unboxing & first impressions) (Novatek NT96580, Sony IMX675/IMX307, HDR, GPS, 5GHz WiFi, 2.7K front and 1080p rear)

Will it work in other regions too for other devices like Nexus 4 Pro :D

Vantrue S1 Pro 2-Channel Dash Camera review

Just saw on Instagram that the S1 Pro is up for pre-order with the LTE Box. I know it's on sale but it seems to indicate that the box will be $100 - $150 AUD standalone, but unfortunately only works in the USA for now (network band support obviously). Hoping it comes to other models like the...

The list of shame fake 4K dash cameras Ultra HD

Thanks for taking the dive for us Ariel! That bitrate makes me cringe so badly haha. Can't wait to see the sample videos too for extra laughs!

The list of shame fake 4K dash cameras Ultra HD

You're probs right it's the imx335 - not a bad sensor by any means but definitely not interpolation king of 8K LoL. Wonder when Starvis 3 will come out or too early I suppose..

The list of shame fake 4K dash cameras Ultra HD

Unfortunately (fortunately?) not when it comes to the sensor haha. Can't find a manual online, and the box listings on eBay don't say anything either. No HDR, only WDR, so we all know what that means lol

The list of shame fake 4K dash cameras Ultra HD

I love how they say in the product video it's their own Ovedisa processor and how you can transfer videos using USB-C cable (yet the camera clearly shows it's a mini-USB port), typos everywhere haha Anyways, looks like it's a 2560x1440 resolution dashcam at 25fps LOL. Not holding my breath...

UHS-II microSD compatible dashcams on the horizon? (plus the elephant of UFS)

Looks like we may be seeing some more movement with this now that SanDisk has announced they're throwing themselves in the ring too: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Sandisk-plans-to-launch-first-SD-cards-with-around-900-MB-s-speed-in-the-summer.826237.0.html Unfortunately seems like there will...

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

Seems like they have for the last few years, shame because the technology is there but no one wants to touch them lol. Would be nice to have options but like microSD slots dying off in smartphones, the same may happen soon enough in other devices I'd prefer the option though to have a card if...

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

I already discussed this month's ago, unless something miraculous happens it's gonna be dead in the water: https://petapixel.com/2023/10/19/sd-express-got-an-update-but-it-still-wont-make-the-format-work/

Absolutely no need when UFS serves same purpose and plenty fast and uses less power than NVMe ssd

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

UFS 3.x and up are fairly fast read and write speeds, close to NAND SSD speeds on PC. have a look. Much much faster than eMMC.

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

I had the first gen DJI Osmo Pocket, same boat with 100mbps. But wasn't running for hours a day and exposed to direct sunlight and heat though. Can't fault DJI on their reliability compared to GoPro. eMMC is still slow but seeing more dashcams with them now, obviously they must think the...

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

I dabbled in mirrorless cameras for years, and have had extensive experience with smartphones for 20 years. Not being pessimistic. Being realistic.

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

Admittedly that was a low to high end action cam from a big brand. Just checked Sony a6300 from 2016 that was a lower end APS-C and that had 100mbps XAVC S. Unless Sony or some other big wig imaging brand make a dashcam it ain't gonna happen. Lower end electronics just don't get those bitrates...

Lol of course it is but unlikely ever to get it. At least the industry is still moving forward I guess haha

    VIOFO Improvement Wish List 2024

4k 100mbps doesn't even happen with flagship phones so not sure how it will here, maybe at 60fps but not 30fps. That's reserved for high end mirrorless and DSLR APS-C cameras. Agree with the rest though, I think Novatek have them by the balls though unless competitors can come up with better...
