Only the custom firmware has the ability to leave the wifi turned on permanently. However, be aware that the firmware is quite buggy, and can cause stuttering, loss of sound or even cause the camera to lock up. So, if you want wifi as a priority over reliability... then yes, install the custom...

Copy in a fresh version of the same version of the firmware as currently installed. Make sure the system folder is empty, as is the record folder, and restart the camera :)

When I have had the SSID not broadcast correctly it's because the folder structure was not correct.... needs double checking.

No, that won't be the issue with the custom firmware - as that firmware was written to read exfat format (apparently).

@Celsian If you formatted the card before it did the update - I would take the card out and double check what you actually have on the card. The steps to return to stock should be as simple as: Reformat your card in fat32 Download latest firmware from BV site Copy all folders to the SD card...

I'm not even going to watch those YT vids... as the 'example' DR550 videos didn't look anything like reality :( It also looks like they've capped the max bitrate at 8? still not enough IMO, should be 10 minimum, ideally 12 (for me).

Obvious omission of bitrates. I also noticed they're replacing the 550 with the 650 - so I assume they're going to abandon the 550 support.
