Lukas 7900 Ace viewer, gave up the ghost :-(

Necro thread but the viewer is in the Lukas website end-of-life products tab: http://www.qviadashcam.net/bbs/board.php?bo_table=01_board&sca=EOL+PRODUCTS Latest is LK-7900_Windows_Eng_V1.8.7 which has the google maps bug fixed.

    Reformat

For my LK-7900, the in-cam format is actually just a delete function, a quick format. So if the SD card file-system is corrupted or scrambled, it doesn't fix anything and strange stuff still happens. This might be what you are experiencing with your LK-7950. To fix it, I put the SD card in my...

    Lukas 7900 ACE - "Err 002"

Everytime I gas up, in-cam format the SD card. But I find the in-cam "format" is really a delete function - It leaves event records untouched and sometimes I still have old 'always' data afterwards. Sort of a mess. This is on a few different SD cards. If your filesystem is corrupt, it doesn't...

    Freeze lcd screen at 0A37

I think you mixed up the camera model and firmware file? There's more LK7900 models now and it's confusing. LK7900 ACE latest is version AC31 but not posted on Lukas website here. LK7900 ARA D type is version OA37. Check you got the right file.

"New dash cam on the market" thread or section missing.

Saw a "New Dash Cam Announcement" and unfortunately the manufacturer's website has no info and there are no specs. Kind of a waste of my time. Tried to reply in the sub-forum and ask, but rules are no posting is allowed there to prevent "spam". So the announcements are spam now. Sigh.

    Accident analyses - speed estimation

I have dash-cam footage of a car accident and realized I should be able to calculate a nearby car's speed. Count video frames from tire to tire against the white-line road markings. Given the cam's 30 FPS rate, car wheelbase, white-line size, I figure you can do this. Has anyone used this?

    NEW Lukas LK-790 CCTV

It looks totally silly, like a dash-cam repackaged as a CCTV security cam? Care to climb a ladder to retrieve the SD Card? You still need a DVR and so this camera has redundant hardware. GPS in a fixed-mount camera? Waste of money. Earthquake detection - what you aren't recording already? Ok...

viewing video files after upgrade to A37

Lukas Viewer was updated for AC37, so using an older viewer version would not work well. Why? The config file has extra settings, and the Codec update. The in-cam SD card format seems to be just a delete. It has to leave the log and config.bin file there. I am having success instead doing a...

viewing video files after upgrade to A37

Small chance AC37 also updated the Codec. I notice the Lukas Viewer comes with H264, AVC, AAC updates. I'm still having problems with corrupt files on AC37.

Lukas LK-7900 filesystem corruption and ghost files

The Always files only go back 1 week, but the SD card is not full. I see GHOST event files from December (!) even though I formatted the SD card (in cam) in March. I can confirm the filesystem is getting corrupt. First saw it a happening a couple F/W updates ago. Tried formatting the card in...

    Parking mode vs always recording

Parking Mode might be one of those not so great features. I didn't like the gaps in video when the cam saves an event to the SD card. My $0.02: Pro's: Cam power drain is a bit lower Display gets turned off, so a hidden cam Around double the recording (storage), due to no-recording...

    Help with GPS wiring??

It looks okay, but the white and red collars might be touching. I would use a bit of tape and put the metal shield back on too. The patch antenna has to be pointing up to the sky, for at least 1 minute before GPS data comes in, after a cold-start. How are you testing things? Are you looking for...

    Help with GPS wiring??

I took mine apart and found a wire-mesh shield, so I think RF interference from the camera's CPU is making the GPS signal weak. Too bad, it's a great chipset that should do much better.

Lukas dashcams: do you have any GPS issues?

Update: The Lukas GPS modules use a micro-battery, a Seiko Lithium rechargeable MS621FE. Presumably to store the ephemeris. It has a lifetime rating of 100 cycles at 20% usage! Mine measured 2.30V falling to 1.80V overnight. It's a 3.0V cell, so after 1-1/2 year it is wearing out. I think it...

    Help with GPS wiring??

My LK-7900 uses all black wires to the GPS module. From your pics, looks close to a Crius CN-06 but not a total match. I'm sure of the two most important wires, but the data line you might have to try either spot. It won't damage anything moving the white wire. Pin 1 (triangle) +V power [Red]...

    Help with GPS wiring??

Post a clear pic of the module and we can figure it out. Red is +3.3V, White is DATA, Black is GND

    updated to AC37 firmware...

I updated to AC37 under Viewer 1.8.6.0 " • Updates in this version: 1. Minor bug fixes." Couldn't find it on the Lukas website, emailed them about it and heard nothing back. Google found it though, on their gnuboard4. How are people finding it? I don't see anything fixed. The GPS driving route...

    Lukas is too overpriced now

Part of my gripe is my buddy bought a Chinese dash cam on DX and for $99 it has more pixels, Wifi, LCD, charger, no GPS. Lukas does have the worst (English) product manuals I have ever seen. So you don't get anything easier to use either way.

Lukas dashcams: do you have any GPS issues?

My LK-7900 GPS cuts in and out a fair bit, I can see that in my travel logs. I blame it on the window tint (around the mirror) blocking the signal. If your backup battery is shot, the GPS does a cold-start everytime and that takes much longer to get a position fix. Beyond this, I would say radio...

    Lukas is too overpriced now

Looking at the South Korean Won, its value has increased 10% per year over the past two years, compared to $CAD and £GBP. So that's why I see a 20% hike... The Lukas is a good dash cam, it works well with none of the hassles which I have experienced with others. Like bad soldering...
