New firmware released to address the delayed switching between parking/normal modes. V1.007 now available, however l suggest you download from the BlackVue site as the update using the app is having issues.

Well it seems that the OTA update is actually not the most recent, hence the reason for it not working. If you download direct from the Blackvue site it works fine! (Still called 1.007 mind)

Im having similar problems, and it doesn't seem to matter whether its Android or iPhone/Pad. Its very hit or miss whether it connects or not. Sometimes I can force it by going into the phone settings and connecting manually to the Blackvue hotspot and then opening the app, but this only works...
