New to Dash Cam - Need insight for buying one ?

Surely after a week of taking the front camera off at the end of your journey, then getting into the back to disconnect the rear camera...then coming back to the car and putting them both back on...you'll get fed up and just leave them in place. I can't imagine doing that after every journey!

    Dashboard is reflecting on windshield

Similar question guys...my street guardian 12RC is working nicely but at night seems to pick up quite a large reflection from my car stereo and phone (which is attached to the air vent via a magnetic style bracket). Can anything be done about this? I don't know how it picks up all of that from...

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

Tidy job arctic, good work :) I did consider using the fuse box in the rear but wanted the remote unit from the 12RC in the glovebox.

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

Thanks everyone. I've had passengers in my car and they haven't even noticed the cameras :) It's a nice piece of kit :) One of the reasons I chose it is that I wanted it to power two dash cams and it has a max output current of 2A, which is plenty. Some BDP devices (like the Lukas ones if I...

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

When I get a chance I'll post a video, but I just thought I'd say that this setup is working perfectly. I have the motion detect on the mobius set to to high, and the street guardian motion detect turned on also. Both cameras only record when motion is detected, and are only on until they reach...

    Warranties and Hard Wiring

I've fitted a lot of car audio equipment, but to be fair the amplifiers were wired directly to the battery and the aftermarket head units plugged into the original leads with adapters. Just make sure when you hardwire that you get a good connection on all the wires and use the correct amp fuse...

    Warranties and Hard Wiring

Just make sure you do it yourself properly, or if you're not confident then ask a car stereo shop to install it for you (though you need to trust that they would do it properly). It's very unlikely (or near impossible?) that powering an electrical device through the fuse box can cause any...

Thanks guys. Had the car for a year and still love it :)

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

Thanks guys. No it wasn't a big deal to do the install but does take some planning and time. Including testing (when I was just waiting and doing other things) probably one day total but I did it over two half days. There's also the time to program the cameras, install the mobius super...

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

Pulled up the door trim. Removed the clips with pliers and put them back onto the trim. Ran the wire underneath. Lined up the clips, which takes a few minutes, then pushed it back on. Back through the same hole into the glovebox. During testing, I had just taped the fuse taps. Now I...

Full install with photos - dual dash cams and BDP in my 1 series BMW

Hi all, I've just installed a Mobius and Street Guardian SGZC12RC in my car so thought I'd share the install with you. As always with these kind of things, there were frustrating moments but it's all turned out well. Here's all the kit I had bought. And here's the car it was going in :)...

    Potential audio issue?

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. It is grounded to to a chunky metal screw behind the glove box. The mobius doesn't have any issues on the audio. I'll keep monitoring it and let you know.

    Potential audio issue?

Hi all, I've installed my 12RC (will update my install thread soon) but I might have an issue with the audio. At the moment the external unit with the microphone is in the glovebox with a cigar lighter splitter for a second cam and a BDP (vicovation power plus) however I don't think these could...

Front dash cam with buffered parking mode

Haha pretty much! Except I'll be crawling around on my hands and knees and shouting at pieces of plastic in my car that won't come off  Actually...sounds extremely similar to lego :D

Front dash cam with buffered parking mode

Guess what's arrived....Everything! Now I just need to find some time to setup the cameras and check they're working properly and then a few hours to get everything fitted. I'll post a few photos of the install :) I thought this time I'd get a trim removal kit which was only a fiver...I've...

    2 Mobius or 1 Lukas 7950 or a Blackvue 550 or 650

Hi Robert, I haven't yet installed my 12RC yet, but I plan on hardwiring it to a BDP and setting the motion detect to medium/ high and leaving it permanently that way. Wouldn't you consider this a set and forget parking mode? I'm assuming that as soon as the car starts moving the camera will...

    2 Mobius or 1 Lukas 7950 or a Blackvue 550 or 650

Video quality is similar between the SG9665GC and SGZC12RC, but very slightly better with the SG9665GC as far as I understand. I chose the 12RC because it has pre buffered motion detection making it ideal for hardwiring and parking mode. It's also more discreet but it does have the remote unit...

    erasing letters

Looks fine mate. I would've done the same thing if I was front mounting it. Scratches like that are the kind of thing that annoy you initially but once you've mounted the camera you'll never see them and completely forget about it.
