I had the same issue with 550, but it wasn't so often as you mentioned. Maybe I had this problem twice within the year I had a 550. After I got a 650, I never faced this problem. Did you upgrade the firmware to 1.001 and try?

It is not normal. My used 550 for more than 5 months and have connected/disconnected several times (to test interference issue) and the never had this problem. Unless the cable was pulled out fully, the camera remained on. Please take the cable out and check if the thin pin inside the connector...

Adding to that, I guess there will not be much reduction in power consumption during parking mode as most of the camera functions are active (except writing to SD). Theoretically switching off security LED should save some power.

Unfortunately not. The camera goes in only from one end if the mount.

Just a note not to push it too hard though. You will hear a click when you press it. At this point, the golden connector would still be visible. I have a seen a video of someone damaging the rear cam on a 550 by pushing it too hard.

It is possible. For the rear cam there is no press and release button like the front cam. Just pull it out of the mount..

In my opinion Blackvue is a good overall package with average picture quality but balanced by good features and software support.

How about giving a new password using Blackvue Viewer and trying again? Else format the SD card with a PC/mac so that all settings are removed and copy the firmware once again to the SD.

I am using Transcend 64GB micro SDXC10 UHS-I for the past 4 months without even a single problem. Also I never had to format it again during this time.
