Well it's safe to say since unplugging the rear camera the dashcam hasn't frozen. So it looks like it is the rear cable problem after all. @Rayman.Chan if I could get a new cable please that would be very helpful.

You used to be able to, but since the last few firmware updates you now cannot access the menu when connected to a computer. Quite annoying really.

Always format the card in the camera and I'm on Windows.

No I haven't got any other cards. This was quite expensive, so I don't fancy spending on another one. Surely this card is good enough? Is there any test I can do on the card to rule it out as being the issue?
