I would like to celebrate my 1 year anniversary here on DCT.
I’ve been an official DCT member for exactly one year today.
Even though I’ve been coming to this forum since November 2018 to get answers to my dash cam questions, and do research for purchases.
However, I did not consider becoming a member, and making public posts for 3 years because I saw on a different online forum where long standing members would berate new members for asking beginner questions. They would basically make fun of new members for not knowing what they considered to be common knowledge.
I’m pleased to report this toxic behavior does not exist on DCT. I have seen the senior members here go out of their way welcoming, and creating an inclusive environment for new members, and I think that’s just great.
However, there are some professional debaters that just like to argue in their free time, (I’m guilty myself).
However, @DashCamMan the owner / moderator of this forum does an excellent job keeping crazy to a minimum. Lol
I feel honored, and privileged to be a part of this dash cam community because I genuinely still do not feel qualified to be a dash cam tester, or “Well-Known Member”. I still consider myself a very basic dash cam user / consumer. I don’t have a degree, or any formal education / training in electronics, computers, or engineering. I’ve just been a fan of consumer electronics since the Japanese golden era of the 80’s, (Sony Walk-Man, boom box, pull out car stereo, VCR, answering machine, etc).
I would like to personally thank these gentleman for fostering my growth as a dash cam hobbyist.
@Vortex Radar Thank you for the final nudge to join DCT last year, and acknowledging my lame attempts at proving helpful content.
@rcg530 Thank you for replying to all my dumb emails, and introducing me to proper test equipment like variable power supplies, and sending me a wire harness test rig to test parking mode power consumption.
Andrew Lam Thank you for being my original introduction to the fascinating world of dash cams via Car Cam Central YouTube Channel. Three cheers for “Wham Bam Andrew Lam”

In an effort for full disclosure, and to explain why everything I say should be confirmed & verified, and taken with a grain of salt I would like to admit over the past 3 years I have unwittingly become a Viofo fanboy. I kissed a lot of frogs along the way (tested a lot of cheap junk), and the Viofo brand of dash cams fits my application best. I find them easy to use, and have the highest horsepower per dollar ratio, (bang for buck). I prefer H.264 Codec, USB Type-C power connection, wedge design, LCD screen. I would like to see the WM1 packed with A119 Mini 2 guts, (that would be awesome). My YouTube channel is still not monetized. So I earn zero dollars making lame YouTube reviews. And I’m still not an Amazon Associate, or BBMC affiliate either. I truly make no money, and the only compensation I receive is free dash cam paraphernalia.
