Actually it's the same for 32GB card. Looks like some buffered recording files which then becomes to real files in case an event does happen.(Like manual recording, impact...)

Basically in reality, you don't get full 400gb of mp4 recording.

Out of the 400Gb, Q800Pro break in to three sections:
MP4 you only get about 113Gb usage
Miscellaneous reserve 1.1Gb
Hidden Temp files (.TMP) took all the storage: 256Gb

You think you can confirm if your SD card reserve all the storage for .TMP and only gave us (mp4) of less than 30% usage.

In a File Explorer--->View --> put check mark on Hidden Items
You will see hidden folder .TWSYS ---- Maybe your might named differently

So it looks like you cannot use all space but that's not true, those .temp files are necessary and overwritten continiously.
If you connect card to PC you can also setup spare for different partitions(Actually Folders) where the recordings are saved.
