I have put a Nextbase 322GW in our 3rd car which does not get used much (so hence not putting a higher model dashcam in it) and I want to add the rear camera.

Reading reviews indicates that it affects the "overall" performance and quality, is this true ?

Looking online (Halfords UK), there seems to be two different types of the rearview add on cameras, a ball type looking one and a square type one (same price), is one better than the other to use ?

Thanks

Hello,

There's three compatible rear cameras available; the Rear Window Camera, the Rear View Camera, and the Cabin Camera.

1. The Rear Window Camera looks like a golf ball and sits directly on the rear window, filming the road behind your vehicle. This is best if you regularly use the rear seats of your vehicle.

Here's some user footage of the Rear Window Camera:

2. The Rear View Camera attaches directly to the 322GW and films through your car to the road behind. We do not recommend this if you regularly have back seat passengers, or a blocked rear view. However this is best if you do not want to wire the rear camera.

3. The Cabin Camera attached directly to your 322GW and films the interior of the car.

As the front camera only has one rear camera port, only ONE rear camera can be used simultaneously. E.g. one Rear Window Camera.

If the 322GW is used by itself, the resolution options are:
1080p @ 60fps,
1080p @ 30fps,
720p @ 60 fps and
720p @ 30 fps.

When the rear camera is used, the resolution options are:
Front 1080p @ 30fps and Rear 720p @ 30fps, or
Front 720p @ 30fps and Rear 720p @ 30fps, or

The resolution of an attached Rear Facing Camera is dictated by the chosen resolution of the Front Facing camera. The resolution of the Rear Camera cannot be altered independently of the resolution of the Front Camera; the two resolutions are linked together to ensure maximum performance.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Millie
