360 Degree Motion Detection Hardwire Kit

I've owned many brands of dash cams over the past 15 years (early ones were Mobius and mini 0802), but the two that I have used over the past 8 or so years have been Thinkware and Rexing. In July I decided to upgrade my truck's dash cam from a Rexing V1pro 3rd Gen to an R88 with the 360Degree Motion Hardwire Kit (360 from here on). The first 360 I had died within a couple of weeks, Rexing sent me a replacement, and now that has died. It worked flawlessly for a couple of weeks with cooler weather. Actually "died" is the wrong word: I think the converter or regulator within it has died from heat. The LED on the 360 is on, but it fails to supply power to the R88. Even pressing the button does not work (I have to get a USB-C tester.) The R88 works with the cigarette lighter adapter. Rexing is now saying this is unusual and the cause must be either my OBD2 port or the battery/electrical system. The truck battery and electrical system are fine and the OBD2 port works with all of my OBD scan tools. So neither is likely the culprit.

It's interesting that the second one failed soon after temperatures rebounded from the low 70s to the upper 80s. I've seen heat kill from too many electronic devices, so I'm sure it's either a manufacturing or part defect.

Perhaps I should have gone with one of the ARC units from Thinkware for motion detection.

Question: does anyone have a 360 hardwire kit and has it been reliable? Has it failed in the heat?
