I remember there was some thread on this but I haven't found it.

What I'd like to try is getting a f1.8 aperture lens that has +/- 100 degree fov, to get better night recordings.

Now I have found these items in AE (and there are more):

www.aliexpress.com/item/3Megapixel-3-6mm-M12-angle-90-replacement-lens-F1-8-1-2-5-IR-board-Fixed/2033039759.html

Do I stand a good chance at all to get better night recordings with this one replacing the standard C2 lens?

I've just recently fitted an 8mm lens to mine (about 45 degree fov) to supplement my main front camera. Love the zoom it gives - I need to test more at night, but it looks like the reduced FOV causes the camera's EV values to adjust better to read license plates in front of you, especially when stopped at traffic lights.

I got my lens from Ali also, but I think conventional wisdom is you won't getter better results with other lenses - in fact it may be worse with issues of edges out of focus and/or vignetting. All that said I'm really happy with my 8mm lens. I have an IR cut filter coming tomorrow so I can get rid of the purple tint.

I think that @Dashmellow has some experience in this and can advise better.
