Yesterday, I received a shipment from 70mai containing their brand new A900 Ultra 4K front / 4K rear dash camera. Both the front and rear cameras are using a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor.

The rear [extended] camera is connected to the front camera using a very thin 7M [22.96 FT] LVDS cable.

I've started gathering my unboxing pictures.

Parking Mode Options

The A900 Ultra has collision detection, motion detection, and time-lapse parking mode options. I updated the firmware to 1.0.65ww which appears to have the low power collision detection parking mode feature promised in an OTA update for the A900 Ultra in the marketing info.

Collision Detection Parking Mode - Quick Test

This parking mode has two modes of operation: with "pre-recording" and without "pre-recording".

Collision Detection Pre-Recording Enabled

The A900 Ultra will monitor for impacts and it will buffer video/audio content until a triggering impact event is detected. When an impact event is detected, the A900 Ultra retrieves 5-seconds of video/audio content from the buffer [before impact] and it records for additional 25-seconds after the impact event. The front and rear videos are recorded at 15 fps for 30-seconds with a bitrate of 16.78 Mbps. When pre-recording is enabled, the app states it will automatically turn off Time-Lapse parking mode.

Collision Detection Pre-Recording Disabled

The A900 Ultra will enter a low power draw state while it monitors for triggering impact events. When an impact event is detected, the A900 Ultra powers up to start recording in 2-seconds. The front and rear videos are recorded at 15 fps for 30-seconds with a bitrate of 16.82 Mbps.

Motion Detection Parking Mode

This also has a pre-recording option which will turn off Time-Lapse parking mode [if enabled]. I have not tested this parking mode yet.

Time-Lapse Parking Mode

If you enable time-lapse parking mode and you have the pre-recording option enabled for collision detection or motion detection, the app states it will disable the pre-recording option for those parking modes.

I'll test all parking modes during my power consumption test suite.

Normal [Driving] Mode Videos:

By default, the front camera records 3840x2160 30 fps video at 33.55 Mbps.

The rear camera videos are 3840x2160 24 fps video at 33.55 Mbps. The marketing material states the rear camera records at 25 fps, but my tests show it records at 24 fps.

I'll start gathering more information about this dash camera over the next week.
