With the A119 hard wired with a 5.5v adapter from fuse box, the screen flashes.
If I power it with the Cig lighter & USB cable supplied the picture is fine.
So I work out its the Cable from the 5.5v adapter to the A119. (which is a very thin wire)

Does anyone know of a cable that is same as supplied i,e, Cig lighter cable, But without the Large USB on the other end, so I can wire it into the 5.5v adapter.?

Or do I cut off the Large USB end & wire to adapter that way.???

I have tested the Voltage & its 5.5v out.

Which hardwire kit are you using? Seems like the kit isn't supplying the needed amperage.

Could be faulty.

This one sold by Spy Tec is verified to work well with VIOFO cameras - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B00MH4ZVHO
You could also hardwire a female 12V power socket and use the included cable and power supply, the entire set-up can sit neatly in the glovebox.

If the screen is flickering it could a faulty GPS module. I am currently experiencing the same issue with a brand new 2017 version A119 and I narrowed the problem down to the GPS module.

Thanks E F

I have sorted the problem.
It was as I had thought a power loss problem.
I tried it direct to Cig lighter with original cable & it was ok.
So I cut the large USB end off the lead & soldered it directly to the Leads from the 5.5v adapter.

The cable size difference was the problem as was getting voltage drop through the old lead I was using.
No flicker now, very stable.
The CBT car power adapter works well hard wired.
