A119M Pro Test & Review PP

The Android version of the newer VIOFO Dashcam app detected that a firmware update was available for the A119M Pro. Unfortunately, it didn't appear to transfer it successfully to the A119M Pro. I ended up having to use the memory card method of installing the newer firmware.

Can you revert V1.1_26019, and then try OTA with your iPhone 17 to confirm?

OTA firmware did not show as available using the new app on my iPhone 17 Pro Max, I had to download the file to the card and installed manually.

I have another A119M Pro that I used for this test using the new iOS VIOFO Dashcam app on my iPhone 15 Plus.

The iOS app [version 1.0.5.10] did detect the newer firmware was available for the A119M Pro, but I ran into what looks like two separate problems on the A119M Pro end of the upgrade.

  • Issue 1 - A119M Pro firmware does not get loaded when the memory card's file system is exFat.
    • I had the A119M Pro format the memory card used for this test.
    • The A119M Pro created an exFat file system on the 64 GB memory card.
    • To prepare this particular A119M Pro for this test
      • I had to update the firmware from version 1.1_20251127 to 1.1_20260109 [so it matched the firmware I had in the other A119M Pro test].
      • I copied the FWA119MP.bin 1.1_20260109 firmware file to the root directory of the exFat file system 64 GB memory card
      • I attempted to update the firmware by powering on the A119M Pro.
      • The A119M Pro simply booted and it did not install the firmware file, but it did delete the firmware file from the root directory of the exFat file system memory card.
    • On my Windows 11 computer, I formatted the memory card with a FAT32 file system.
      • I copied the FWA119MP.bin firmware file to the FAT32 file system memory card and tried the update to 1.1_20260109.
      • This worked.
  • Issue 2 - After VIOFO Dashcam app transfers firmware file to the dash camera, it sometimes reboots and sometimes does not
    • With the FAT32 file system memory card in place, I used the VIOFO Dashcam app to upload the FWA119MP.bin v1.2_20260409 firmware to the dash camera.
    • When the app stated the upload was done, the A119M Pro simply continued recording without rebooting to install the firmware file.
    • I disconnected my phone from the A119M Pro Wi-Fi connection and I had the app connect again.
    • The app stated again that firmware version 1.2_20260409 was available.
    • I had the app get the 1.2_20260409 firmware and then the app uploaded it to the A119M Pro.
    • This second attempt resulted in the A119M Pro rebooting after the upload finished and the 1.2_20260409 firmware was installed after the dash camera rebooted

My A119M Pro didn’t give any onscreen confirmation that the firmware was installing from the card, the screen turned black at boot up and then the unit restarted a short time later.

Thank you for confirming.
It looks like OTA is not 100% functional with his particular firmware update.
I guess in the mean time we'll be telling folks to use SD Card method.
I wish VIOFO would send a courtesy email to A119M Pro owners who registered their cameras to let them know a new firmware update is available.
How else would they know if the APP does not provide the pop-up message.

That is normal operation for all firmware updates.

The screen on the dash camera does not show anything while it's loading the firmware file from the memory card. The REC LED will quickly flash as it's loading the firmware file into the dash camera and when that finishes it reboots to start using the new firmware.

My prayers have been answered 🙏
I’ve been hoping for this since August 12, 2025, (9 Months).
We finally got proper Bitrate with OFFICIAL FIRMWARE V1.2_20260409.
It’s now approximately 62Mbps, (previously 37Mbps).
Does it now run hot enough to fry an egg on it?

@viofo @VIOFO-Support
I have (2) A119M Pro units.
First unit I updated firmware with SD Card V1.2_20260409
I tried to update firmware second unit OTA with new APP.
OTA Firmware update does not work.
When I connect to camera, no firmware pop-up message.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is my iPhone too old?

Does the cellular network on your phone work properly when you using the app? If yes, would you mind providing a complete log to analyze?

Good news.
I deleted the APP from my iPhone, and re-installed it.
OTA firmware updates now work OK.

I don't know how to do this.
Can you explain so I know for future use?

In an iPhone viofo app press the about logo 5 times and it will then pop up a file to download.

It's different on android!

Yeah right, next you’re gonna tell me click my heels three times to return home screen 🤣
