I have made some little tests with A129 Duo and a USB meter, these are the peaks in Watts:

1.Front 1080p 60fps 1.74W
2.Front+Rear 1080p 30fps 2.89W
3.Parking Mode 5fps Front 1.33W
4.Parking Mode 5fps Front+Rear 2.23W

Check attached pictures,I've made a picture and a App screenshot(min-max) for each test. The dashcam was powered from powerbank.I will do the same test with the A129 Pro Duo over the weekend.

So not a huge drop in consumption for 5 fps mode then.

I'd be interested to know if powering via the GPS made much/any difference?

GPS was ON,but power cable was connected to camera's side port..

OK, I power mine via the GPS module and the standby/on automatic switching works fine.

But one thing I have noticed, even with the camera switched off via the button I get a clear patch on my screen where the GPS plate is stuck to it, indicating that the GPS is remaining powered up all the time. Could you find out what draw that is taking for me please?

And if you power via the camera does the GPS power down with the camera?

Thanks

I am interested in your device, does it have a name or link where to purchase? Cool post

Yes is quite huge, with 100Wh powerbank for example, the difference between normal recording mode and parking mode at 5fps can be 10 hours,on paper at least..

Another test :)
I use the low bit rate mode when parking rather than reduced FPS, any idea what effect that has?

My A129 is on v1.11 firmware and doesn't have that parking mode.I will not update it for the moment.

There is only a very small reduction in power consumption for low bitrate mode.

I ran a similar test, though I think the measuring units are amps lol. In 2 fps parking mode with both front and rear cameras, power draw was 0.42 amps with GPS, 0.39 without GPS. I turned off GPS by disconnecting the camera from the mount.

In watts assuming 5v, 2.1w with GPS, 1.95w without GPS.

Disconnecting the rear camera gives the biggest drop in power consumption.

Thread title is Power Consumption not curent consumption.Power(U x I) is measured in Watts.
