I bought couple of months back the A129 DUO and am pretty happy with it, I just got recently 2x 20,000 mAh Power Banks to test the parking mode over extended period of time, last night i started using one on TIme Lapse 15 FPS on parking mode, the camera drained the power bank in just over 12 Hours, is this normal ??

Power bank used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/B07JB97FHS
I could see on the small LCD screen the camera is consuming 0.6 A @ 5v, never gone above 0.7A, is this normal for a 20000 mah PB to be drained in as short as 12-14 Hours only while on parking mode ??...

thanks,

Is it safe to keep one of those types in a hot vehicle? I would be afraid it would explode from the heat.

An amp is 1000 milliamps, so a 20000 mAh powerbank should contain 20Ah, if you use it at 0.6A then you should get 20 / 0.6 hours = 33.3 hours.
Now powerbank mAh are often specified at battery voltage of 3.7V instead of 5V, so it is reasonable to multiply the 33.3 by 3.7/5=0.74. 0.74 x 33.3 = 24.6 hours, which is what I expect from a 20,000mAh powering an A129 Duo, if it only lasted 12 hours then you actually have a 10,000mAh powerbank and have paid too much for it!

As long as it is kept out of the sun, and preferably near the floor, and it is never charged below freezing, then they are safe enough in most places. Not sure UAE counts as a cool country though!

I have placed a link above: https://www.amazon.com/gp/B07JB97FHS
its a 20,000 mAh, am suspecting the battery was drained because in the afternoon the temperature was probably 50c or maybe more, although car was parked in shade for the majority of the day but its pretty damn hot here as you know, am giving it a second shot with the other PB i got coz i bought two, lets see...

Have you considered hardwiring. Will eventually take a toll on the battery but if you drive enough every day, it will still last a few years. I'd rater replace the car's battery sooner than introduce a fire risk that is almost bound to happen in such temperatures.
